Far to the southwest of the capital, situated between your kingdom and one of its southern neighbors, lies the Great Yamaxun Jungle. The jungle consists of million of acres of tropical forests and is possibly the most biodiverse region in your world. Everything from salamanders to sylphs can be found in the Yamaxun. It is even said that, when the Tarrasque awakens, it emerges in the Yamaxun.
The Yamaxun is also the home of the sleeping gods.
In millennia past, civilizations of humans thrived in the Yamaxun. But those civilization declined and fell, and their once thriving cities are now stone ruins overrun by jungle. At the center of these cities were grand temples dedicated to the patron deity of that city.
When these cities thrived, so did their patron deities. But as the cities fell into decay, their gods and goddesses became drowsy. Now each of these once glorious temples plays host to a deity bound in eternal slumber.
