Chapter #9
A Clue
by: Unknown
After making sure the people at the camp were safe, Van Helsing left the camp and started her investigation. She decided the best place to start was near the water's edge, so she made her way back to the river.
Once she reached the bank of the river, she began looking around to see if she could find a clue. Almost immediately, she did see something: a set of footprints. Two in fact. One seemed to be leaving the water, the other entering it.
As Van Helsing kneeled down to look at them, she noticed that the prints out of the water were deeper in the ground then the ones entering it. She started to assume that it was the heavier creature, until she noticed that both sets of prints looked exactly the same, minus how deep they were.
As she recalled the description of the two creatures given to her, she thought of pufferfish, and how they can inflate to ward of predators.
"Perhaps the two creatures are actually the same creature, but able to inflate." Van Helsing mused. "But why would the creature attack the camp, I wonder."
