"You're shrinking!"
"Whaaat?" You are taken aback, shocked by Jaz's sudden conclusion. At first thought, you seem reluctant to believe her, but it doesn't take long for you to realize she is speaking the truth. Slowly but surely, the world was growing larger and larger around you as your perspective lowered. Everything seemed to grow exponentially bigger and farther away as inches kept melting off, even Jaz herself looked bigger. Thankfully, your clothes seemed to be shrinking alongside you. So, at least you don't have to worry about having a wardrobe malfunction in front of your strange, new friend. Despite your situation, you try to compose yourself as to not stress Jaz out further. "H-how do I stop this? I don't want to keep shrinking!"
Jaz fluttered around you frantically as she began to think. Soon she stopped and was hovering right in front of your face. At this point, you have dipped below the 5' mark. "Don't be alarmed, the shrinking will stop soon. Its effects are based on how much dust landed on you, and I didn't throw that much.I think. But just to be sure, you should try to wash it off your body as soon as possible."
You begin to glow up, "Great! Is there like a lake or pond I could jump in around here?" This just gets a giggle out of Jaz.
"Of course, but they aren't for humans to swim in silly," you begin to blush, "Don't you humans have bathes of your own?"
You begin to judge the distance from here to your house. Thankfully, it wasn't a long way. If you began running now, your tiny legs may make it to the shower before you got much smaller. "I'm sorry to cut our meeting short, Jaz, you're a wonderful girl. But as you can see, I need to rush back home before I become not much taller than you. See you around."
"You think I'm wonderful?" Jaz grew red, surprised by the sudden comment and unfortunately was too slow to respond. You were already speeding away as fast as your could. The hike out of the forest definitely felt longer than the one you just walked a moment ago. You were still shrinking, down to 4'8" now. Fortunately, your home was no more than a couple of blocks away from the forest's entrance. As you ran, you prayed that no one that knew you happened to see you, that would just make this whole ordeal more embarrassing.
Ten minutes had passed since you began running and you were a sweaty mess. Definitely not in well enough shape for this kind of exercise. Luckily, you were home. You spent no time throwing your clothes off and hopping in the shower. As interested as you were to reflect on your new height, you were laser focused on what you needed to do first. Every inch of your body was scrubbed clean, it was hard to tell whether you were being effective or not, the dust was barely visible on your skin.
Leaving the shower, you were relieved there wasn't much chance for you to shrink any smaller. However, at 4'4" tall, the world was a much different place now than when you woke up this morning. You felt like a kid again as you walked around comparing yourself to ordinary household objects. You could barely peer over the kitchen counters and it was weird seeing the doorknobs go nearly up to your shoulders. On any other day, you'd be in a state of a panic, but for some reason you were feeling pretty content. More than content really, you were feeling good. Not only were you 17 inches shorter than normal, you had no idea how to restore your size. Yet, you couldn't help but smile and laugh like a school yard boy as you compared your height to everything around you. "That dust must of affected my hormones," you tell yourself, "There's no way I could feel this good in a time like this."
You decided to try and relax, climbing up onto your huge, fluffy bed to get comfortable. It was then when you began to reflect about your encounter with that fairy, Jaz. You began picturing the tiny, 6" girl in your head, her slim body, pale face, frilly wings, and long hair. At the time you had little time to appreciate her looks, but in retrospection, the small blue girl was beautiful. You remembered the conversation you had with her, recalling her gentle, squeaky voice and her delicate mannerisms. You began to feel regretful of cutting your encounter short.
You once heard a folk tale of a man and a fairy falling in love, but you are worried she might be too small for you. Or maybe, just maybe, you are too big? You blush at the thought,"Don't be ridiculous!" you tell yourself, "You're being delusional. She's probably not into humans like me anyway."
As you continue to fantasize on top your bed, you can feel yourself losing consciousness. "But maybe, it would be fun to see if I could meet her there again tomorrow? Yes, that would be a lot of fun."
It's not long before you are fast asleep.
