She's not sure what just happened, or if anything happened at all. Something feels... different. Her wariness is gone. She decides to continue her hike, following the trail deeper. She sees more and more strange plants; a giant fern here, an impossibly coloured flower there; leaves that don't move with the wind, bushes and trees with odd shapes that resemble objects and animals, fruits and flowers that smell like fish, like fresh-baked cookies, like summer rain. The trail becomes harder and harder to follow as the vegetation takes over; sometimes she loses it completely for minutes, guessing the direction of her path, only to glimpse it later, to her right or to her left, or maybe behind her, taking frisky turns, hiding from her eyes shyly, never going in the way she expects it.
Then she hears something that sounds like... people? Who would be this deep into the forest, in this exact place? She tries to pin down the voices, but they're too far away, and they're mixed up by all the other voices of the live forest. Does she here them talking? Laughing? She can't tell, so she just keeps following the treacherous trail, her thoughts pinned on the voices, until, in the shade of a tulip as tall as a tree, she notices a figure. It takes a moment for her to realise what she's seeing, maybe because it's so far from anything she expected here.
