Brad broke out of his trance when he heard the truck coming up the driveway. He recognized Joe’s truck as it kicked up dust along the gravel surface.
Karen chuckled at the scene in front of her. Jimmy was obviously drawn to the newcomer and was sniffing the air as he got closer to the timid female.
“Okay Brad, from this point out, you’re to be treated like any other goat. I’m only going to refer to you as Ruby. Try to relax and have fun. Remember that you’ll have your reward once the week is up. In the mean time, I’m sure that Jimmy will keep you satisfied. You’re now an attractive young and fertile female in heat. I made sure to extend your cycle to last for the duration in case you need a distraction from the kids.”, said Karen before she made her way toward Joe to help unload the kids.
“Howdy Karen! I owe you one for caring for the little ones. Mary is going out of town for the week to visit her folks and I just don’t have the time to bottle feed these little guys.”
“Oh, no problem at all Joe. I think I have a solution for this issue that will make things easier on everyone. One of our Nanny’s lost a kid recently and may be willing to nurse these babies. She has. Great temperament and would make a great substitute for their mama while she recovers.”
“We’ll ain’t that a coincidence. Let’s get these little guys up to see her. Probably best to take them up one at a time so we don’t overwhelm the poor girl.”
Joe picked up one of the calmer female kids and walked up to the pen with Karen. They entered through the gate and walked up to Brad, who was suddenly a little nervous.
“This is Ruby. She’s a gentle girl.”, said Karen as she pet Brad lightly on his snout. “Let’s get them aquanted.”
Joe set the female kid down on the ground. She quickly ran up to Brad and bleated happily. Brad reached down and nuzzled her, pushing her toward his teats. The little goat happily reached up and started drinking from Brad’s teat, lapping hungrily at it.
Brad felt a wave of euphoria wash over him as the sensation of feeding the little goat kicked in. “Oh my god, that feels… well… kind of amazing!”, thought Brad as he closed his eyes. After seeing how comfortable the baby goat was, they introduced the others. Before long, five baby goats were trampling around Brad’s feet, trying to feed off of one of his two teats.
Joe smiled and clapped his hands together triumphantly. “This couldn’t have worked out any better! By the way, where’s Brad? I wanted to thank him for lending me his blade sharpener the other day. I brought it back with me in the truck.”
“Brad’s a little busy right now tending to some of his farm duties, but I’ll make sure to tell him you said hello!”
