I'm not sure what exactly woke me, but I became aware of the heat and humidity, then was startled wide awake when I realized I was not in my bed or recliner in front of the tv. Oh, I was lost! How could I have forgotten? I sat up and remembered propping this leaf up with a thin stick to create a shelter. My mouth felt like cotton. How long had it been since I had a drink? I couldn't remember.
Nothing here looked familiar. I was lost in a lush, overgrown jungle of sorts. Everything was huge! Was this how Alice felt after she drank the potion? It took a little practice to get used to walking with so many legs. My wings had dried out while I napped and I gave them an experimental flap. Oohh, that was a cool sensation! I wondered if I could fly? Maybe if I could fly up to a higher place, I could get a better look at where I was.
After making sure I was steady, I started flapping my wings, harder and harder. Then, yes...my feet started leaving the ground! I never liked heights much and was scared to go too high and already I was feeling out of control. Boy, flapping one's wings takes a LOT of energy! I was already starting to weaken and tire.
I spotted what looked like a flower box and aimed in that direction. For some reason, the flowers looked so much brighter and I could smell them with greater intensity than I used to. I eased back on my flapping and started to descend, but I was still going a little too fast and I started to panic! I felt for sure I was about to crash land! But there were only a few limited options of where I could crash.
