Chapter #9

Sylvain vs Hilda!

    by: Krashify Author IconMail Icon
What did he just say?
“Professor, what do you mean, Marianne?” Leonie said, “She can’t stop Hilda! Hilda would just get her to join her!”

“No offense to Marianne, but I’m with Leonie on this one,” Claude began, “I don’t think Marianne’s the type to get involved and stop Hilda. Sorry Marianne”

“I-it’s okay… I don’t want to be that big… Or dangerous…” Marianne meekly agreed.

“Hmm, in that case… Who to send?” Byleth wondered.

As he was considering his options, they heard a voice from an approaching Blue Lions student.

“Hey, Professor! Interesting move, growing Hilda to take us on. And not that I hate seeing her giant,” Sylvain began, “but what’s your plan for stopping her rampage. She doesn’t look like she’s going to go quietly, and the knights shouldn’t have to pay for that…”

After everyone’s collective disapproval of his plan, he reconsidered, but luckily the perfect candidate just arrived.

“You’re right everyone, Marianne won’t go. You will, Sylvain.” Byleth announced

“Wait, me?” Sylvain replied quizzicaly.

“That’s a good idea, Teach.” Claude agreed.

“Yes, Lysithea will grow you, Sylvain. Then you go and restrain Hilda until she shrinks again.” Byleth instructed

“Right. And how does she do that?” Sylvain asked

”If you manage to calm her down, I should be able to cancel the spell with a counter. But if she’s moving around I won’t be able to.” Lysithea explained

“Right, well, leave it to me.” Sylvain agreed, before stepping forwards into the clearing.

Lysithea casting her magic while focusing on Sylvain. He slowly grew until he towered over the tiny class, even taller than Hilda. She turned and walked towards the battlefield, where the knights were barely avoiding Hilda’s swipes. As Sylvain arrived, he announced, “Hey Hilda, you’re looking good. You mind letting the knights go? I don’t want to have to hurt you.”

“Oh hey Sylvain. I’m not going to do that, these knights need to pay! My knees are sore, my dress is torn!” Hilda said angrily

“Well okay then.” Sylvain said as he stepped forwards, approaching Hilda. After he carefully stepped over Jeralt and his horse, Sylvain warned “Hey Knights, you might want to get out of here, I’ll hold her off.”

“Right, you heard him, move out everyone!” Jeralt said

“Easier said than done!” Catherine snapped, inbetween Hilda’s planted knees, watching her movements.

Once the other knights were out of the way, Sylvain saw Shamir dive to avoid a swipe, when suddenly Hilda’s palm closed into a fist, descending right for Shamir, who was lying on the ground. He reached in and snatched up the tiny sniper, barely avoiding Hilda’s fist as it slammed hard into the ground.

Sylvain looked at the tiny Shamir in his hand, joking, “Woah, that was close”

“Yeah, I would have been flattened if not for you. Thanks for the help.” Shamir said, before Sylvain stashed her in his pocket.

“Nice, Sylvain!” Catherine cheered, drawing Hilda’s attention.

“You!” Hilda growled as she moved her feet, the ropes holding her legs finally snapping. She got to her feet as she raised her foot high, before bringing it down hard with force.

“Again?” Sylvain complained, before diving forwards and scooping up Catherine in both hands, barely pulling her away before Hilda’s boot shook the earth on impact.

“… That was too close!” Catherine said, breathing heavily, “Thanks for saving us, we wouldn’t have lasted much longer if you hadn’t shown up!”

“Don’t worry about it! Just the kind of guy I am” Sylvain smiled, before hiding Catherine in his other pocket.

“Okay, Hilda, enough’s enough. You really tried to hurt them, so I’m taking you down.” Sylvain said as he stepped towards Hilda.

“Bring it!” Hilda said, charging towards Sylvain. Sylvain quickly stepped to the side as he dodged her tackle, leaving her off-balance. He stuck his foot out and caught Hilda’s ankles, leaving her to fall flat on her face, her impact resembling an earthquake to the tiny onlookers. As she went to get back up, Sylvain sat on her back, pinning her to the ground.

“Alright, now Lysithea!” Sylvain shouted.

Lysithea walked forwards, holding her hands out in front of her, as she focused her energy on the two giants in front.

“It’s working!” Ignatz cheered, as the two giants began to diminish, slowly returning to their normal size. Once the effect had worn off, Lysithea collapsed out of exhaustion, being caught by Byleth before she hit the ground.

“Well… At least that’s over.” Byleth said, holding Lysithea.

“I don’t usually said this, Teach, but that wasn’t a good plan…” Claude relented

“You don’t say…” Leonie snapped

“What a irresponsible idea! How one such as yourself is in line to lead the Alliance simply boggles the mind. Do you not have any foresight for how your decisions might affect or harm-“ Lorenz began chastising Claude, before Byleth held his hand up to silence him.

“This isn’t going to be good.” Byleth warned, as Seteth approached. Hilda and Sylvain also joined the group, Hilda trying to hide behind Sylvain.

“And what was your plan with that!?!” Seteth yelled

“Well? We… thought it would be an easy victory with her giant and all. We didn’t think she would be the type to go nuts like that.” Claude explained

“Your schemes have gone too far this time! The knights best soldiers could have been killed! We don’t know where Catherine and Shamir have gone! We have to pray they haven’t been crushed!” Seteth began, as Sylvain suddenly remembered the two knights he had saved.

His subtlely put his hands in his pockets, and felt the bodies of the two women knights. He began to say something, before he stopped himself.

Wait a minute… No one knows where they are but me… They’re all mine now…. He thought to himself

“And you!” Seteth turned to Hilda, “What was with that attempt to murder the knights!?! If Sylvain here hadn’t stopped you, we might not have any knights left! Thank the goddess for his Heroism.”

“Speaking of your Heroism, Sylvain. We sincerely appreciate your work here today. While you’re here, did you happen to see Catherine and Shamir while you were out there?” Seteth asked nicely

“Uhh, who? Um, no I don’t think I did. Everyone else was so small, and I was focusing on restraining Hilda, so…” Sylvain trailed off, as he heard the tiny Catherine try to yell from his pocket, before his finger covered both of their mouths to silence them.

“Of course, well, thank you again for stopping her. Everyone will surely hear of your work here today, if they didn’t see it.” Seteth applauded him, “You may go while I deal with this mischievous house”

Sylvain smiled and walked away, as the Blue Lions rushed over to him.

“Sylvain, that was terrific!” Dimitri cheered

“Yeah, Sylvain, I didn’t think you’d be so heroic” Ingrid shared his sentiment.

“Very heroic indeed!” Mercedes smiled

“Like a true knight!” Ashe cheered

“Thanks everyone, to be honest I’m feeling a bit tired, apparently growing into a giant really takes it out of you!” Sylvain said.

“Of course! I’m sure there will be a big banquet at dinner to celebrate you saving the knights from Hilda!” Dimitri smiled.

Sylvain left the field, heading back to his room.

Sylvain closed his door and laid down on his bed, before his pulled out the two tiny knights and placed them on his chest.

“What the hell, Sylvain?!?” Catherine squeaked at her new tiny size.

“Well, I kind of forgot about you two after taking down Hilda, then when I shrunk, returning to normal from being a giant, I guess you two shrunk to a tiny size from being normal sized. You’re both very cute like this.” Sylvain grinned

“This is ridiculous. Return us to Lysithea now.” Shamir ordered in a high pitched squeak.

“I don't think so. You should be at least a little grateful, I mean, you’d be part of Hilda’s palm and boot if not for me.” Sylvain reasoned.

“That’s true… But that doesn’t mean you get to keep us as dolls! I mean, what’s your big plan here!?!” Catherine yelled

“Catherine... I think we’re his plan.” Shamir realised.

“What? But… Oh, you’re kidding!” Catherine snapped

“Come one, ladies. I saved you, besides, no one else knows you’re here, it's just us three…” Sylvain said as…
