Chapter #9

talk to Jesscia

    by: ro34 Author IconMail Icon
Scanning the crowded cafeteria, Tina spotted Peter at their usual lunch table, deep in conversation with his friends. He was animatedly discussing a new video game, his excitement spilling over as he gestured wildly. But Tina quickly noticed the affectionate looks from Jessica, seated a few tables over with her cheerleading friends. Peter had spoken highly of her—how she was beautiful, confident, and the complete opposite of his own shy demeanor.

Taking a deep breath, Tina made her way towards Jessica’s table, gathering all the courage she could muster. There was something strange about the dress she wore—it felt more like armor than clothing, and she was determined to use it for good.

“Hey, Jessica!” Tina called out, her cheerful voice cutting through the din of lunch chatter. The cheerleader turned, her bright smile lighting up her face as she recognized Tina.

“Tina, right? You look cute today!” Jessica replied, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear as her friends nodded in agreement. Tina couldn’t help but feel a little flutter of pride at the compliment, though her mind settled back on the task at hand.

“Thanks! I wanted to talk to you about Peter,” she said, hesitantly approaching the table, which was now filled with intrigued glances from Jessica’s friends. “I think he really likes you, you know?”

Jessica laughed lightly, a bright sound that emphasized her cheerleader persona. “Peter? Really? He’s nice, but he’s just… well, kinda shy, isn’t he?”

Tina could see the flicker of doubt in Jessica's beautiful green eyes and knew this was her moment to help. “Exactly! He needs a little encouragement. He’s smart and funny and genuinely a good guy. But if he doesn’t ask you to prom, he might never forgive himself!”

“I’m honestly not sure,” Jessica replied, glancing at her friends, who were whispering and giggling amongst themselves.

“Come on, just think about it,” Tina pressed, her heart racing a little faster. “Prom is going to be a huge deal. It’s a chance for everyone to let loose and have fun. Plus, you might even enjoy going with someone who’s not just another jock.”

Jessica raised an eyebrow, pursing her lips in thought. “Yeah, I guess. But what if he just freezes up and can't say anything?”

Tina nodded, understanding that Peter’s shyness could be a major hurdle, but she had a plan. “That’s why I’ll help him! I’ll get him prepped, and I’ll even get him to practice what he wants to say. I’m sure he just needs a little bit of pep to get him going!” She grinned, trying to exude confidence.
