Chapter #7

Some kind of Elf

by: BIG BAD WOLF is Merry Author IconMail Icon
Marv had to blink for a moment. What she was looking at looked very human, save for the ears, and perhaps the eyes. It reminded her of something from Tolkien's works, or those of Gygax.

"You're an elf?" she said.

"Expecting something scarier, and not human-like?" Pelor asked.

Marv nodded.

Pelor chuckled. "You'd be surprised at the horrors an elf, such as myself, could do. To be honest though, I'm surprised at the horrors humans can do. Demons have nothing on you."

Marv thought about the things that had been invented during wars that did a lot of damage, death, and destruction. "I hope you're not going to say that elves are superior."

Pelor scoffed. "Hardly. We can be just as much of an asshole as a human can be. Same with any other monster race. Of course, most try to be decent, as it's much easier to get what one wants when they don't act like a douchebag over it."

Marv had to blink. "You're certainly not talking like I'd thought than an elf would talk. Then there's your choice of vehicle - this thing probably takes a lot of gasoline to keep running. Not exactly environmentally friendly."

"Language is quite infectious, and English seems to be the most commonly used language, along with this one Chinese dialect called Mandarin," said Pelor. "That being said, we're still working on how to improve this thing, so that it can use something that's easy to produce."

"Alright," said Marv. She looked, and saw, sitting about five feet from her, the lion-man and the cheetah-man. Then, there was the partition, and she saw sitting in the driver seat, something that looked like a human-sized bird, with a human-sized lizard sitting next to them. "If you forgive me, but this reminds me of something out of those Lord of the Rings movies. That or Dungeons and Dragons."

Pelor laughed at this. "Good movies, and that game is fun. D&D5e has a lot of options. Can't wait to see how they handle different elf-mixes."

"What do you mean?" Marv asked.

"Let's just say that there's some truth to the various subraces those games like to do," said Pelor. "My own father could have been the inspiration behind the Drow known as Drizzt Do'Urden. As for my mother, Arwen from the Lord of the Rings books could have been based off of her."

"Wait, Lord of the Rings was written during the 1950's," said Marv. "Are you saying that your mother is over eighty years old?"

Pelor chuckled. "Try three hundred, and you're getting closer."

"Please tell me that you're less than fifty," said Marv.

"Thirty-seven years," said Pelor. "We live for a long time."

"I hope that you're of Legal Age then," said Marv.

Pelor chuckled. "Everything's good."

"Alright," said Marv. "So, where are we going?"

Pelor grinned. "I think you might like it."
