"I'm so, so, so sorry!" Derrick said over the phone
"It's...no problem," replied Evan, calling from the phone in his hospital room. "These things happen."
"What did the doctor say?"
"Part of my hip is fractured, and my right femur is broken."
"Wow. I guess I, uh, did a number on you then."
It had taken a few hard tugs to pull the obese dog free from the doorframe. But with that last tug of Derrick's arm, the big dog popped out and landed hard on top of the lion. Two loud pops and cracks spelled out bad news for the lion he just crushed.
"Yeah, the doctor said that I need to move as little as possible for everything to heal correctly. So, there's lots of bed rest ahead for me. The first day I'm in town and I end up getting stuck I'm bed for a couple of months," the lion complained.
"Ah man, now I feel even worse," said Derrick. "Look, this is all my fault. But I want to make it up to you. Let me take care of everything. I don't want you to feel uncomfortable or have to lift a finger while you heal. Money's no object."
"Okay, so what did you have in mind?" asked Evan.
"You'll see. I know some people who can set something up. Let me phone up the building manager..."
