Ever since you were a small child, you've had a major problem. Girls were always going out of their way to try and kiss you. Now while that may sound like the dream, when you've had to spend every day in fear of some girl cornering you for a kiss, sometimes more, it was anything but. What's worse is that it wasn't exclusive to human girls either. Female pokemon would try for one too. You had a particular memory from a year ago where a flock of female spearow dive-bombed you to try and kiss you with their beaks.
Your mother tried to explain this with some mysterious event that happened while she was pregnant with you. She and your father were on a boat in the ocean to witness the Lovedisc mating season. Two of them in particular chose to leap into the boat and try to connect. However, instead of finding each other, they both planted their lips on either side of your mother's pregnant belly. She says that the event charmed the unborn child (you) with such love from the opposite sex.
Whether it was true or not is beyond you. What is true is that you'll never forget the first day it kicked in. You were only five years old in elementary school. You were approached by a girl your age named Sally and her Smoochum. It was then that she outright told you that they were gonna kiss you. You being the fearful child you were, ran away as fast as you could.
You ran and ran across the playground in circles for about ten minutes before they finally cornered you. You spent the rest of recess being mercilessly kissed by the duo, all thirty minutes left of recess. By the time you returned to class, you were covered head to toe in lip marks from the Smoochum. You were taunted by the rest of the class who called her your girlfriend.
That was only the start of it. Stores, playgrounds, even riding your bike couldn't happen without some pokemon trying to kiss you. This had you even more worried of today. Today was the day you were meant to go get your first pokemon and start your journey as a trainer. Problem was, you were terrified of wandering the world with this affliction.
But your dad was firm. He told you that this was the day you started to grow out of this fear. He pushed you outside, wished you good luck, then closed and locked the door. Great, now you were out here defenseless unless you went to get your pokemon. You turn around, preparing for your trip to the professor's place.
