This choice: Curiosity won, check the commotion. • Go Back...Chapter #5Curiosity won, check the commotion. by: Elesis   It would be a lie to say Jaune wasn't interested on what was happening nearby. He was a teenager prone to mischief and meddling on others business. The fact that he applied to Beacon with false transcripts should say it all.
'I can always swap with Weiss tomorrow. She isn't going anywhere so I can wait.' Thought Jaune trying to justify his actions. His mental gymnastics finally over, he turned left, straight to the commotion.
A few seconds later, Jaune reached the small crowd and saw for himself what had garnered so much attention.
"Leave me alone, please!" Cried a young girl with bunny ears.
"I don't think so, animals shouldn't roam these hall without their owners, you must be punished." Mocked a burly built boy, pulling said girl ears.
Apparently Cardin was bullying Velvet again, just like that time on the cafeteria. The rest of Cardin team were close standing in a way to impede others from interfering. Not that anyone tried of course, a bystander atmosphere had enveloped the zone and everyone just stood there watching.
Jaune by his part felt angry. After the altercation in Forever Falls, Cardin stopped trying to blackmail him. In fact other than in combat class they stopped interacting. It seemed that Cardin went for another target, the bully!
Cardin needed to learn a lesson. But not through violence. Jaune had gotten better than when he started but still was not match for Cardin. He could last longer on their spars, but he had yet to win a single time. Backed with the rest of his team Jaune was outmatched. Or he would, if he hadn't a reality altering device on his hands.
Smirking a bit, Jaune took a few seconds to think what to swapp. Then it hit him like an epiphany. Maybe Cardin should experience being a faunus. It would serve as payback for all the things he forced Jaune to do back then.
Finding the Personal Information option and selecting species Jaune aimed at Velvet. The next instant Velvet stood there, now an ordinary human girl, while Jaune was a rabbit faunus. But reality hadn't time to reassert itself before Jaune aimed at Cardin this time and pushed the same button. Jaune returned back to normal and beheld a bizarre sight.
Cardin with two rabbit ears. Jaune had to hold his laughter, not wanting to attract attention to himself, least that of Cardin. It wouldn't end good for him after all.
Jaune was of course unaware of all changes his swap truly caused.
Velvet was now the adopted human child of the Scarlatina clan of rabbit faunus. Not much going on there.
Cardin however received the most significant changes of all. The Winchesters were die hard human supremacist. Having lost many members during the faunus wars created a grudge that has yet to vanish.
Things got complicated when Sandra Winchester gave birth to a faunus child. It would have been an scandal if they hadn't hid the information and kept the boy a secret. They wanted to kill the child, but Sandra felt a bit remorseful and they just kept him isolated in a safehouse from the world.
Growing up was hard for the rabbit faunus. The Winchester didn't even grant him a name. The constant abuse by the servants in charge of him and his curiosity about the outside led him to his escape, a search for freedom. But the outside wasn't as nice as he thought. Faunus discrimination wasn't as widespread in Vale as it was in Atlas, yet the kid experienced the harsh truth of the world.
He would have died outside in the cold streets, in the winter when he was not even ten years old yet. But he was saved by a passing faunus who took him to the local branch of the White Fang, where he was inducted on his early years.
Cardin proved himself to be above the average recruit and quickly climbed the social leaders till his current position as lieutenant. His latest mission is to transmit intel on Beacon to the Fang for future operations under the alias of Cardin Belmont.
There are more things going on there, but they are unrelated to Jaune.
Once the daze of reality rewriting itself finished, Cardin turned around and walked out of the zone. The rest of his team followed behind, but now looked cowed, somehow resigned.
The small crowd dispersed too, and Velvet passed next to Jaune who still was rooted on the spot. He heard her murmur something but couldn't grasp it.
The situation now diffused what should Jaune do next.  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
