Angela strolled downstairs. Nobody was there. She pursed her lips and walked over to the basement door.
"Becca? Cindy! Are you down there?" No response. She walked back upstairs and looked into her daughters' rooms. Nobody was in either of those either. She clenched her jaw and went back to her room. She checked her phone. There was a text from Becca from five minutes ago.
"Cindy heard you drinking and laughing evilly again, so we went to the mall together until you calm down. Don't wait up."
Angela stared at the phone. This had never happened before, and she was worried. Her drinking and her need to mess with her daughters had driven them to the point where they felt they weren't safe in their own home. Somewhere in Angela's perverted soul, a voice wondered if this message was a wakeup call. If the biggest problem in her life, ultimately, was herself.
The rest of her soul chimed in with a hearty "Nah." The biggest problem in Angela's life was pretty simple. She had a size-changing remote, but didn't have anybody she could mess with. She needed to fix that. She threw on a tank-top and a jacket on, momentarily admired her strained neckline and rock-hard nipples in the mirror, and called up an Uber.
Ten minutes of awkward silence from her wandering-eyed driver later, and Angela stood outside of the Grand Valley Mall. The building was emptier and more quiet than it had been during the Friday nights of Angela's youth, but a relatively respectable crowd still teemed within it. Angela strode in through the double doors at its entrance, still giggling from the wine, and looked at the mall's map. Her daughters were hiding somewhere in here, and Cindy might have brought her boyfriend along. Angela just needed to find them.
