Despite with both fists out,swinging as hard as you could and the royal Mushroom Retainer raining down a endless barrage of fireballs,the hordes of Goombas and Koopa Troopas grabbed hold of the princess,pulling her over their shoulder while you and Toad were distracted with the Hammer Bros and Lakitu,in the sky,tossing down Spinies.
"Ahhhhhhhhh! TOAD,Y/N...HELP!!" As Toadstool's loud screechy voice got quieter and quieter as you whirled around,upon finishing off your 4th Goomba.
"UH-OH..Princess Toadstool! t-they got her Toad!"
"HUH?" The short mushroom said as he was reduced back to his regular,non-powered self as a lone Spiny touched him(you completely forgot how often things like this happened in the Mario series).
"Ohh No! and that means..she will be at the hands of King Koopa gulp!"
As you did something that was common in most Mario game series,picked up a spare vegetable from the ground and hurled it at the Lakitu hovering around,still raining down Spiny eggs as the vegetable sent the turtle in the clouds flying off into the distance as Toad took a re-breather for a few seconds.
"Nice one human dude! Thanks!" He wheezed out. "Boy,it's a lot tougher when you're at it alone and without the Marios around. But come on,we gotta to save Princess Toadstool!" He quickly jumped up and began running off in the same direction of the rogues went but you held back for a bit.
"B-but wait...there's miles and miles of nothing but grass,hills and green pipes all around! They could be anywhere...I-I'm new here...I don't know anything about this Mushroom Kingdom...the surroundings or anything else."
"That's why you're lucky enough to have me Y/N! I know all the shortcuts,the hidden pipes,pathways and anything else! And besides,we have been to King Koopa's main castle so many times,it's almost become Princess Toadstool's personal vacation villa! I know the way,come on!" He shouted over his shoulder as you slowly follow,gulping as this was definitely you didn't plan on doing today.
