Chapter #6(Name)'s adventure in Sequin Land, start! by: Paperface (A/N: Co-written with Former182)
You are a young man named (Name). One day, you were browsing through your parents' attic, digging through some ancient artifacts found in an old chest, inherited from your great-grandfather Walter, a renowed archeologist and a world-traveler.
As you kept on digging through, you came across with and age-old book with your great-grandfather's signature on its front cover.
"Huh... This must be his journal he kept from all his travels across the world. I do wonder of how many interesting adventures he had during his life."
You kept on flipping through the pages, digging in the information and the memories your grandpa had written down on his journal. He seemed to have made quite alot of friends in many different countries, though many of their names you couldn't recognise, not to mention, at how your grandfather described them in such a cryptic way...
"What the? 'A land with a strong emphasis on foodstuff like fungi and beans, a realm eternally within a medieval era, a place where loops occur naturally within nature...' What the heck, Grandpa Walter?"
You kept on browsing through the pages, until you came across to the latest entry that your grandpa had written.

Dear journal, It has been quite some time since I last wrote in you, but I must speak of my friend, who I shall refer to as ‘Mr. M’, simply to protect him. We met in ??? along the road. He referred to himself as a relic hunter, but he acted more like an Archaeologist like myself, given the care that he gave to the artifacts and the sites they resided in. He might be a bit of a stout fellow, but that merely fuels the powerful muscles on him. Not only that, but Mr. M has quite the brain within his skull. Though he wore glasses that hid his eyes, he noticed details that I missed while reading the tablets at one of the ??? Archaeological sites. Thanks to him, we were able to find a few ??? Tombs days before anyone else.
We went drinking to celebrate, but wound up getting in a fight. Mr. M sure has quite the punch. It helped us get away before the local authorities arrived.
There was a time where we were robbed, but Mr. M revealed after the fact that he had foreseen we might be held up, so he produced a near-perfect replica to hide the artifacts we were bringing to the museum. When we arrived at the museum, we certainly went through a fun ruckus, especially when we pointed out the flaws in the fakes.
He did have a few oddities. I had to explain what a coffee machine was, but he was able to pick it up quickly. Another was the toaster and the steam engine. I offered some simple plans for the latter for him to study, but he refused. He muttered something about not spoiling things for himself.
Still, Mr. M had to go home eventually. The two of us hoped we could one day meet again, but I must confess that the land he called him was a tad unusual and he found my home to be unusually named as well. Still, he might’ve spoken in code, as Mr. M’s land was named after some garment of clothing.
We left each other at the very road we met, perhaps even the very spot we spoke at a year ago. It felt fitting. I pray that we could one day meet once more.

"Huh... Great-grandpa Walter was indeed quite an adventurer, given by how he and his friend, 'Mr. M' had pulled off such daring stunt, by switching the actual relics with fake ones and having later on pointed out the flaws in the fakes."
You closed the journal and put it aside for now, as you resumed on browsing through your grandpa's collection of artefacts. He must have brought them with him from his travels across the world.
There was one particular item in your great-grandfather's collection which caught your attention. You guessed it to be from somewhere around... the middle-east?, as it was decorated with a rather fancy pattern, along with some sort of a description, though which you had of no idea how to translate it.
But what exactly was the artifact, that got you so interested? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
