Chapter #3The Summoning in The Haunted House by: Goodvibes Upon a black hill, nearing the midnight hours, seven women stood outside the broken manor of Lady Aurelia Belview. A witch carried an Oujia Board up the creaking steps while followed by a parade of fiends and villains. A more accurate description would actually be a costumed witch was followed by a line of her friends.
"And we're here!" The witch named Sara proclaimed. "I told you we'd be here before midnight!"
"Are you gals sure this is a good idea?" Annabelle spoke as she saw her six other friends move towards the doors. The cowgirl quivered a little from the cold. "I'm not part-tickulary inclined towards messing with the second world."
"Please, you really believe in those old tales about this place?" Ashley stated. She twiddled her pirate outfit to pull down near her knees. "I mean its--like--stuff to scare babies or something."
"I ain't 'fraid of no ghost!" Melissa screamed out. She gladly rushed past Sara and pushed open the dusty door, all the while her ghost costume flapped in the wind. "What are you gals waiting for? Come on!"
"Want some food Kim?" Beverley said. Her pumpkin outfit tight against her fairly plump form. "I got blueberries, your favorite!"
"Oh thank you Kim!" Kim happily stated as she was handed a fruit snack from her friend. She chewed absentmindedly, doing her best not to color her pilgrim outfit. Rounding out this motley crew was Dallas, who babbled on her phone to a unknown caller.
"Don't worry Honey-Bun! Me and the girls--or is it the girls and I, whatever--are going to be back before one o' clock! Don't worry we'll be there to watch the spooky flicks. Love you!"
All seven women crowded into the main lobby and looked around. Dust, broken wood, and old furniture greeted them.
"Ew" Ashley stated. "Do we have go anywhere else? "
"Nope. We can just do it right here." Sara happily replied. "Everyone ready to set the place up?"
The rest of the girls nodded and began to place down their accompanying materials. Candles, flashlights, and chalk were all placed down onto the floor. Two of the girls began to draw the appropriate circle and place the candles onto the floor. Sara in turn began to take out a tome and began flipping through the pages.Finding the pages she wanted, Sara placed down the Oujia board and book onto the ground. Sitting down, she began to recite while the other girls took their places.Dallas helpfully placed a clock down to indicate the time.
"Oh Aurelia Belview. Oh Aurelia Belview. Come back towards our realm and manifest your will onto this material plane. Oh Aurelia Belview. Oh Aurelia Belview. Come back to the home you took your final breath in."
"This is so cool!" Beverly stated. Snacking on another snack with Kim. The six girls watched as Sara began to repeat her chants. Her tone growing louder and louder and her arms raising higher above her head. Finally she chanted out the last verse from the tome.
"Oh Aurelia Belview. Come back to the Earthly Kingdom. I, Sara Hensley, call you home!"
Sara chanted the last word out and all six ladies braced themselves for an apparition to form in the circle. Nothing appeared. They tapped their feet or twiddled their thumbs in waiting. The clock ranged, indicating it was midnight. The girls waited again, but like before, nothing appeared.
"I thought there was going to be a pale lady or a spooky mistress,Sara? Where is it, come on!" Dallas whined.
"Guess she was too scared to come!" Melissa screamed out. "We'll I'll get rid of this stupid circle."
"Wait! Meliss-" It was too late, Melissa already rubbed her foot down onto the white chalk on the floor and got rid of the stains. The other girls didn't seem to care much for the action and shrugged when nothing came out.
"Looks like this was a waste of time." Ashley proclaimed.
"Who needs to see some fat lady anyways?" Kim spoke. Stuffing another blueberry into her mouth. Beverly nodded before she turned to glare at Kim.
"Hey!"
"I'm not talking about you. You're plump, not fat."
"Ah. thanks!"
Annabelle chewed her lower lip in apprehension, tapping her foot mindlessly. Sara got up and began to flip through the book. Not seeing anything to mediate the situation she sighed.
"Sorry girls, it looks like I was wrong. Stupid book." Sara tucked her tome into her bag and began to clean up the lobby.
Invisible and above them flew the spirit of the manor, Aurelia. She glared down at the assembled girls.
"Fat! Too sacred! A waste of time?" Aurelia screamed. "It wasn't my fault that mouthy girl of your's didn't know how to properly calibrate a freaking clock! And that idiot destroyed the circle before they could even dispel me! Don't you dare insult me about my worth if you can't even possess some caution.
Aurelia tapped her ghostly finger against her chin as she saw the girls begin to clean up.
"You want me to show you my worth? My talents? My skills? Well I'll show you just how 'talented' I can get."
Breathing out wisps of blue smoke, the weird air traveled down and began to caress the ladies' forms. A sudden chill went over all of them, but they brushed it off as the cold night. Opening the door, Melissa held it as the ladies moved outside. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
