Emma froze in her tracks, breathing heavily. It's just an old building, nothing to worry about. But even if it had just been the mansion's creaking floorboards, that had been an awfully loud creak. It was bad enough wondering through this dark house of horrors, but now Emma was starting to worry about the ceiling caving in on her. There's probably some serious building code violations here...
Taking a deep breath, she starting moving again, stepping even more carefully and quietly than she had been before so as to not alarm herself with any more loud noises. If Stacey really had come inside, then perhaps she had fallen through some broken floorboards or gotten herself locked in one of these rooms?
She braced herself as an obvious idea came to her. "Stacey..." she said it so quietly that she barely heard the word herself. I doubt even the spiders heard that...
Emma jumped out of her skin as she heard that ominous creaking noise again. This time, it seemed much closer than before, and appeared to have come from the door to her right. "St-Stacey?" She asked, a little louder than before. "Are you in there?" She shone her flashlight on the door knob, and reached out, her hand shaking.
"Okay, get a hold of yourself," Emma said, her voice quivvering.
She grasped the knob and pushed open the heavy wooden door, which opened with surprising ease, and very little creaking. Immediately shining her flashlight into the room, she saw...
