You can’t quite believe what your Granny is saying to you. “You’ve never looked more adorable…” She winks at you and licks her lips. “...or more delicious!” Surely she must be joking?
“What do you mean, Granny? You’re scaring me!”
“What do you think I mean, silly?” Your Granny is clearly loving this. “I mean that the sight of you standing there, on your Granny’s pillow, is making my mouth water! You look truly scrumptious, my sweet. I simply can’t wait to gobble you up! You’re going to be yummy yummy for Granny’s tummy!”
You back away slightly. “Stop teasing me, Granny. You’re not really going to eat me… are you?” You are feeling increasingly nervous. Your grandmother has always loved her food and you recognize the hungry expression on her face all too well. She’s looking at you with exactly the same longing that she usually reserves for the very tastiest cream cakes or other treats.
“There’s nowhere to run to, my sweet. Everyone in this house has been waiting patiently for the day you finally shrink. We’ve all been hoping to gobble you up, even your Mom and your little cousins. I’m just so glad that you came to see your old Granny this morning!”
You can hardly believe your ears. This must be some kind of sick joke, you think, but deep down you know that your grandmother is telling the truth.
“Please, Granny, please don’t eat me!” you whimper, realizing that you backed right to the edge of the bed and have nowhere else to go, Your grandmother starts to laugh as she reaches out a pudgy hand to grab you.
“It’s no use begging, my little breakfast boy. You’ve always been food since the day you were born. I’ve dreamed about gobbling you up so many times. You might as well come to terms with it. You’ll be snuggled up in your Granny’s fat tummy soon enough, all nice and cosy, just like everything else I’ve ever eaten.” The old lady is starting to drool and licks up a slippery strand of saliva that is running down her chin. Her fat fingers snatch you up surprisingly gently and lift you into the air...
