Chapter #2Nicole Smith by: Anon Nicole Smith is a teacher at Hill-Haven Elementary School in Northern California. Ever since she was a child, Nicole always wanted to teach and help others, and has always been passionate about the education of others. She's been on councils, boards, and committees that help improve the state and countries education of tomorrows future. One main obstacle for Nicole, has always been that she isn't overly wealthy or well known by the big important people, and she has always tried to move up the ranks in the education system. While when she started to teach, the mere hands on concept was enough to satisfy her dreams, she's become thirsty for a larger role in helping teachers and children. Nicole has been teaching at Hill-Haven for a couple of years now, and is enjoying her colleagues and students. the school isn't too large, but it holds enough staff and students to keep Nicole on her feet 24/7. That about takes us to now.
Nicole is sitting in her classroom, it's currently recess and the children are outside playing. Nicole is catching up on some marking and eating her salad for lunch. She enjoys the quiet break from the students, until there is a knock on her door. Not knowing who it is, she welcomes her visitor in to her classroom and in comes Mrs. Haskell. Mrs. Haskell is in her later 30s early 40s (Nicole has never asked) with short black hair, a narrow face with some freckles, and an overly thin physique for her age. She is attractive, but she also has a serious look to her face that makes people hesitant to joke around her, at least until they get to know her.
"Hey there Nic, hope I'm not interrupting anything, I know how hard it is to get alone time around here," Mrs. Haskell said kindly, "I was only wondering if you'd like in on this weeks lottery ticket with the rest of us?" Some of the teachers at the school have been doing the lottery ticket for some time in hopes they might all be able to split the winnings and retire together. Nicole isn't usually the one to gamble, sure she gets in on it every now and then, but she finds it expensive and difficult to find false hope so frequently, so she only does it every now and then.
"What's the jackpot on this one?" Nicole asked. "So far it's close to 800 Million I think, though odds are it'll go up more" Mrs. Haskell responded calmly. Nicole thought for a minute, it has been a while since I bought a ticket, oh what the hell that's a lot of money after all...
With that, Nicole pulled out her wallet, handed some cash to Mrs. Haskell and went back to marking. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
