You decide to see what it is that seems to be bothering the hippogriff, but before you can say anything she flies right into you, sending the two of you tumbling to the ground and her books scattering around her.
"Oh, geez! I'm so sorry!" She frets apologetically, helping you up before gathering her books.
"No, it's fine! I wasn't looking where I was going." You smile, taking the blame even if you weren't the one not paying attention.
"I'm just really behind on this module and I only have two days to complete all the work and it's super hard and I can't focus on my studying at all and Applejack is gonna be so mad if I don't complete it on time and then Twilight will be mad and she might kick me out of the school and then Starlight will be so disappointed in me and I can't even see my friends because I'm so busy and it takes me so long to study!" She blurts out, speaking so quickly it practically becomes white noise.
You take a second to comprehend what she said to you. She's clearly stressed to the extreme and rushed off her claws.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! Why do you find it so hard?"
Her face dropped slightly. "I just find it so hard to focus. What I need is a study buddy, but I know none of my friends would be any use! They're great but they're just as easily-distracted as I am!"
She paused in a rare moment of silence, before suddenly looking up at you.
"Unless..." She began, "Maybe you could be my study buddy! You seem all... wise and stuff!"
It was nice she thought so, even if it wasn't true.
"Me? I guess I could... What will it involve?"
"Just sit with me while I research for my project and test my knowledge. I know it's in there, it's just... I need someone else to help me memorise it!" She tapped her head.
This hippogriff was a little ditzy, clearly, but you were happy to lend a hoof if you could. Twilight would probably be quite happy if you'd managed to solve such a problem on your first day in Ponyville.
"Okay! I'll see what I can do." You told her, and her face lit up immediately. She lunged forward and pulled you into an embrace.
"Yes!! Thank you! Oh, we're gonna be the best study buddies ever!" She rejoices gleefully, letting you go. "I'm Silverstream, by the way!"
"Peppermint Swirl." You tell her.
"Ooh! I love peppermints!" She giggles excitably.
"So... what's the first order of business as... study buddies?" You asked, still a little unsure you could offer the help she thought you could.
