"Hey Dylan, you remember that ride we went on last year? The one with the giant chairs and objects, which almost made you feel as if you were actual doll size?"
"Yeah, that was funny," he giggled.
"How would you like it if I we explored the house that way?", she said with a smile on her face. "I mean, with that device of yours we can turn pretend into reality!"
"Mom! That's crazy talk." he looked at her skeptically, but he was curious as well. "You want me to make us both as small as dolls?"
"Exactly!" Helen said eagerly. She knew what she wanted, but she also needed to convince her son. "Think about how much fun that would be! We could crawl into tiny spaces, climb up on furniture like mountains, or even have a picnic under the table. We could do so many things. Come on, it will be fun."
Her excitement was contagious, he was beginning to feel excited himself. And hey, he had always loved playing with his little sister's Barbie dolls. The idea of his mother becoming one, even temporarily, was intriguing.
