As the elevator dinged and the doors opened, Greg's hand curled around the gemstone, hiding the flair of gold-green light from bleeding through the fabric of his pants pocket. Either by his own volition or perhaps urged on by the clearly otherworldly stone, Greg muttered a wish through clenched teeth as the crowd of workers moved out into their designated work space.
Could they not see how unprofessional this was? Or how much Greg was NOT enjoying it? Why were they as acting like teenagers in high school? They were adults! Not to mention, he truly didn't think that his son, regardless if said son was currently his sister-in-law and had no memory of being a son, deserved this!
"I wish...they'd leave me and Willow out of the office gossip forever!"
Greg caught the flash of light just as he was passing one of the copy machines on his way to his desk, the verdant light seemingly catching the glares of all the copy machines in the office and turning the world oddly sepia toned for a moment before the muted colors of the office returned. Greg paused only for as moment as he realized what he'd just done, but the gregarious and mean spirited jokes from the rest of the group had gone silent. Jared and Jan and the other guy were now just mingling, speaking quietly about reports and other work topics as they made their way to their cluster of desks.
