A giant enters the city

The world above the girls seemed to crack open with a mighty boom. Stopping the girls’ conversation dead in it’s tracks. Their bodies were still as they witnessed a gargantuan hand plunge down from the sky, smashing into a nearby skyscraper. The tower tumbled across the mall the girls had just been inside, flattening the beautiful structure of glass and material excess into a plume of thick smoke.

The girls stood hopelessly still as the floor tumbled below them. The concrete cracks and pulls apart at their feet. Nicole grabs Patricia and Bianca’s hands instinctively they sprint to a nearby hotel. They effortlessly weave past people evacuating, their faces were twisted with fear. “H, how come they don’t notice us?” Bianca mumbled, lagging behind slightly.

“It’s a simulation type thing dummy.” Patrica groaned back. Trying to sound tough despite the danger they were in.

“Is this a part of it?!” Bianca snapped back bitterly.
“No. No it isn’t...” Nicole finally spoke up, “whatever is smashing up the city, could smash us too!”

The trio reach the roof of the hotel. The air is clearer as it stands above the smoke and rubble of the desecrated mall. They have a clear vantage point. “If we lay low, keep quiet... We could be okay.” Nicole mumbles incoherently.

“The fuck you mean ‘could’?!” Patricia yells, rumbling Nicole to her core. Patricia was a pudgier, larger girl than her and was often the ringleader at school among bullies. “You brought us here, you told us everything . Or were you just lying?” Patricia’s voice grinds on Nicole’s mind.

“I... Didn’t expect this! We locked the door to the room, only we know about it. No one could’ve got in!” Nicole screams back, demanding control of the situation.

Bianca screams and cowers as a foot collides with a cluster of buildings, the shocks alone rumble the hotel ceaselessly below the trio’s feet. “This was such a stupid idea!” Bianca yells, rushing in to break the argument up. “The building is gonna collapse on us! Can we get a clear look at who’s doing this?!” Bianca throws her head to the sky as the others do too. Despite the swirling plumes of smoke a colossal figure can be seen peering into buildings and ripping into them. “They’re... Searching for something... For someone?” Nicole mumbles.

“Could be your Dad?” Bianca chimes in, “we’ve trespassed on his experiment. He could be pissed.”

“Oooh, maybe it’s your icky brother!” Patricia responds, giggling at the idea of Nicole being tormented by her larger brother, she had an unconfessed crush on Derek...

The figure loomed over them, casting a deep shadow over the complex, they had no regard over the jungle of skyscrapers they had embedded themselves in. Their broad arms crash and topple them aside... As the figure makes an advance their identity becomes all too clear for the girls... It was...
