"Ah...nothing quite like showing up to one of your bakeries where I get to unwind." Lacey said as the car stopped in front of it as she got out and headed on in. The main floor was a normal bakery of course with her office being on the third floor.
"Welcome back, miss." one baker said as he presented her with a donut.
"Oh...you know me too well. Its even sugar coated." Lacey smiled as she happily took the donut and took a bite out of it. However, the moment she did take that first bite, she soon began spitting it out right on the floor. "Egads! What a horrid thing! What is wrong with you?" she demanded.
"I don't know what happened." the baker said, a bit intimidated.
"Take me to the kitchen." she demanded as the baker complied.
They entered the spacious kitchen where she looked around for a bit. "Hmm....everything seems normal. Least on the surface." she muttered before looking towards the sugar bag. "Is this the sugar you used for the donut?"
"Yes." the baker said, a bit worried.
"Hmmm...." she said sticking a finger into the bag as she licked off the white substance. "Ack! This isn't sugar...it's salt!"
"What?" the baker said in surprise as he went and tasted it. "You're right. But how is this..."
"Mam! Mam!" one of Lacey's assistants said running inside. "A number of our bakeries are calling. They're saying all of their sugar has been replaced with nothing but salt."
"What? But how is this..." Lacey began before thinking of one person who could have done this. "Gloria..." she said looking out the window at a billboard advertising one of Gloria's businesses. "So...she thinks she can mess with this brit and get away with it, huh? Unfortunately for her...we bakers always give out just desserts." she said.
