Chapter #3

Scattered to the Wind

The aftermath of everyone realizing they'd been shrunken was hardly pretty.Everyone being collected enough to speak did not mean that emotions were in check and fears were assuaged. Multiple conversations and arguements all seemed to break out at once, resulting in a general indecipherable din. You heard only one or two ideas among people crying and panicking and voicing their fears.

"We have to get out!"

"What if the janitor comes by?"

"Maybe we could try the locker room, the volleyball team might be around."

"Stop being a fucking pervert!"

"Maybe we should hide."

"The school's gonna close, goddamnit!"

"I think someone's coming!"

The floor beneath all of you shook violently, tremors running through the tile from the hallway beyond. You'd later realize that it was just a few students walking by, chatting among themselves, but at the moment none of you were quite thinking. Between panic and disorganization, the entire group scattered almost immediately, running screaming in all directions. Adrenaline coursed through you and you ended up running too, even as you yelled out at them.

"Wait! Stay together!" You cried, no one heeding your orders as you ran to take shelter by a nearby chair leg.

Your heart was pounding as waiting in the shadow of the cold metal, glancing out into the room, expecting to see shoes and feet stomping by any second. You waited, probably for a lot longer than you should have...

Minutes had passed by the time you had worked up the courage to take a step forward. The hallways beyond were quiet, so you were fairly sure no one was going to burst into the room. Unfortunately, no one else who had shrunken was immediately visible. Your first thought was to search for the others, but soon you though better. If you spent the next few hours searching around the room, you might miss a chance to grow back or end up getting too hungry to continue on. Not to mention, the others might have already left.

Perhaps it was better this way....split up you could all cover more ground. If anyone of you found someone and got their attention, the rest of you could be saved. So it seemed to be in your best interest to find help. You looked up, eyes falling on the clock on the wall. The normal school day was technically over, but even on a Friday there would be stuff hapening after school.

Someone, probably Rob, had suggested the locker rooms, mentioning the volleyball team. Even if they weren't in, there was bound to be at least one team coming and and out on the weekend. That could be a good option, even if the gym was a way's away.

Another option would be the classroom used for detention. It was only a few classrooms away and given the size of Hyperion High, there was guaranteed to be at least one misbehaving student in there, not to mention a teacher keeping an eye on them.

The last option would be the teacher's lounge, teachers always stayed later than students, so it would be a sure chance to find someone (hopefully not the one or two teachers you didn't get along with). Like the locker room it was a ways away, but at least no one would assume you were spying.

Where will you go?

You have the following choices:

1. Locker Room

*Noteb*
2. Detention

3. Teacher's Lounge

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
