You awaken on the cold stone ground of an oddly structured cavern, it's walls not made out of the same grey stone you are lying on. The best way to describe them would be stacks of books, but that cannot be right. Those books would have to be enormous. As your eyes attune to your new environment better, you realize it wasn't a trick of the light, nor a waking hallucination. You are actually surrounded by piles of giant books. Each copy damaged by old age, dusted over and weather, stacked in piles without much care, by what you could only imagine to be some giant's handiwork.
You push yourself off the ground, and carefully make your way through the cavern between the piles, towards the light of a more open area. Leaving the forest of books, you are finally given some idea of where you are, and it's not a comforting sight. You are in a circular room of what you can only assume is an old European-style tower, with some old astrology contraption by the window. The sheer size of it compared to you is intimidating, as, judging by the books you passed, your height relative to it, amounts to only two inches. The most frightening thing about the entire place however, is the fact that you're not alone.
On top of a chair so large, it may well be a god's throne, sits a giant woman, who doesn't appear fully human. Her skin is a cold pale-blue, while her hair is a much darker and more vibrant shade of the same color. She is dressed in a white robe, covered by a fur coat. On her head she wears a white sorcerer's hat so large (even compared to her) that the width of its rim amounts to twice her shoulder-span. Looking at the face underneath it, you see an enthralling blue left eye, while the right eye remains closed, with a glowing cyan mark underneath it. Her pale-blue face has an ethereal ghostly beauty to it, almost doll-like, with a strange corruption crawling up her neck and onto her left cheek, like cracks in its perfection. Glancing down from there, you notice four hands upon her lap, which causes you to look twice, to be sure you counted them correctly. You're surprise to see; she indeed has an extra pair of arms.
Your heart begins to race, as you imagine the danger you could be in. Your instinct tells you to hide between the books again, but it's too late. The eagle-eyed giant stranger turns her head towards you. Despite your size, the blue skinned woman has already spot you.
"Thou have failed, if thine goal was to remain unseen," she says, with a soft gentle voice of authority. "Such meager stature maketh an excellent spy, yet leaves one defenseless if found."
To your horror, the blue giantess steps out of her chair, her towering height sending shivers down your spine. As her one eye looks down with squinting suspicion, you turn to run, but the distance your travel on one stone tile is laughable, compared to how the giant covers half the room in just a few steps.
"Do not exert thyself needlessly," she says, as a massive blue foot slams down on the path in front of you. "Thou art found and at my mercy. It'be unbecoming of what appears an intelligent human being, to act like a common pest trying to evade me. Nonetheless, if that is how thou desireth to act, I have no qualms treating you such. I would simply lower mine foot unto thine pathetic presence and extinguish thine life beneath mine sole. Therefore, I implore you seizeth thine insectile behavior, and accept thine capture with the scantling amount of dignity thou haveth left."
You freeze and slowly turn your head up at the giantess standing over you. A satisfied smile grows across the woman's lips, as she assumes you followed her command. She lowers herself towards the floor and reaches one of her pale blue hands out, its enormous fingers pinching your small body, and plucking you off the ground, like a bonbon taken from a box of chocolates. She stands up and dumps you into the palm of another hand, before raising you up to her left eye. She squints curiously, as you take your chance to shout your side of the story, telling her you are not a spy, and that you have no idea how you got here.
"I believeth thou, mine unfortunate guest," she says. "Thine garb is of the strangest sort, otherworldly and unseen in The Lands Between. Be glad thou heatheth my command, for I'dve stepped upon thee without knowing thine innocence, and pulverized thee against my skin."
You calm down a bit, hearing she no longer thinks of you as an intentional intruder. You feel around the soft palm of the blue-haired woman's hand. It feels like you're sinking into a bouncy castle, with the surface feeling a bit rougher and more organic, with a humid hint of sweat.
"Alloweth me to give introduction," she says. "I am the witch Ranni. The place thou haveth found thyself in, is my current abode, and whilst I pity thine predicament, I've decided I shall not permit thy leave it. The Lands Between art a danger to even men of fitting stature. Whilst I could claim I merely care, truth be told, the diminutiveness of thine body also allows me to exert a dominance over thee, which I deem entertaining. Thou shalt live with me henceforth, obey mine commands, and in return I shall care for thee and keep thee safe."
You reluctantly nod, causing Ranni to frown.
"I've no need for thine agreement to these terms," the witch says. "I have claimed thee as mine. Thine acceptance of my decision is meaningless. If thou deemeth life under me not worth living, then I offer the mercy of death upon request. Now I've explained thine position, I shall offer thee the choice to either rest in mine lap and converse with me, or serve me in any way thou sees fit."
