Before Piper could get too comfortable, however, she could hear the door open from the other side of her bedroom.
"Guess that means my roommate's here, huh?" Piper asked aloud, almost disappointed that she didn't have time to take even a little nap.
Here was where the trepidation of being so far away from home set in. Piper had spent all her life in the Port, and her she was off of her home turf. The butterflies in her stomach fluttered quickly and wildly as she felt the unfamiliar sensation of unease settle into the pit of her gut. Here she was, dumb little beach trash, about to meet a real, live, college chick.
As she rolled off the bed, she almost wished that she could have stayed in her room and forgone this meeting entirely...

She was just a person, right? They wouldn't have stuck her with, like, a robot or something. College or not, Piper's roommate was just like her. Except probably more well off and probably not as stacked. But then, neither of those things were hard to accomplish.
