Jake looked at his hand. There was a golden hourglass filled with white sand. The sand was at the top of the hourglass and was gradually dropping down the the bottom half.
"Hold on what is this?" He jogged after the woman. He touched her shoulder and she turned around. "I don't understand."
"When the sand all falls to the bottom one hour passes. When that happens the hourglass glows and you can make a wish." She explained.
Jake frowned. "I can make a wish?" He was beginning to think that this woman was crazy.
"Yes once an hour. Just be.. specific about what you want. You can't make another wish until you flip it over and wait another hour." She said seriously before turning a corner and disappearing behind a brick building.
Jake stared at the falling sand. "Now hold on just a minute." He walked around the corner and to his surprise the woman was gone. The way she hobbled she could not have gotten far but there was no sign of her, it was as if she vanished.
"Hmmm..." He said looking again at the small golden hourglass counting away the time.
