You were lost in thought as you pondered over the situation. Sure this goat lady seemed to have a ton of candy, and it did smell delicious, but you could probably get some candy elsewhere. You didn’t need to get it from her. Plus, it’s odd that she ‘just remembered’ she had a stockpile of candy. If she really did have that much candy, why was it not in her candy bowl by the door? But she did seem very sweet and nice so you decided to try to word your decline in a kind manner. You smiled up at the grinning, curvy goat, “Um, thank you so much miss. We really appreciate it. But we’ll go to another house. We don’t want to bother you anymore than we already have.”
You were about to go before the goat chimed in, “Oh sweetie pie, it’s no trouble at all. I’m more than happy to give you as much candy as you’d like.” The goats sweet offer and tone seemed more sinister now that you were trying to leave, and you could feel her eyes bore into you.
Maria joined in, “We’re really sorry miss but it’s almost past our curfew and we need to start heading home,” she lied.
The goat giggled, “Oh, it’ll only take a quick second.” You could’ve sworn you heard her belly rumbling. Was the pentagram on her apron glowing?
Maria shook her head, “I’m sorry miss but we really need to get going. Thank you for the candy.”
You three turn around and start to walk away from the house. That was a little strange and that goat lady was a little too overzealous about giving you more candy. But the night was still young, and there were still many houses to go to. But what if the goat woman spotted you three still around the neighborhood? What now?
