As Rebekah was sat in the tea room, five minutes before the start of everyone's 10:00am shift, she chewed on her bottom lip as she looked around at her usual co-workers. Some she had known since high school, like Charlotte and Laura, others she hadn't known for long, like David, Claire and Daniel. Everyone else was somewhere in between, she'd known them for years. The reason she was thinking of this, was because on the way to work, an extremely weathered old woman had somehow given her the power to swap people's body parts. And she was seriously considering mastering her power by swapping her friends and co-workers around.
She knew this power was real, because she'd used it on a middle-aged couple just outside the store and had managed to exchange their hairstyles, giving the man his wife's shoulder length brown hair, and the woman her husband's short black hair with a little greying at the temples. Rebekah had then panicked a little and ran into the store, not even attempting to reverse the swap.
And now here she was, leaning towards using it on those she worked with nearly every day. The decision was made easier by the fact that nobody she swapped would be aware of anything wrong. Therefore... no chaotic, distressed reactions.
The five minutes soon ticked by, and then Liz walked into the tea room and clapped her hands, telling them all to head downstairs and gather at the help desk. She'd be down to hand out their tasks as soon as she'd had a word with Emma and Elizabeth about the next schedule delivery of merchandise to the shop.
Rebekah was the last out of the tea room, still deep in thought, but her train of pattern was derailed when Laura nudged her and smiled, starting a conversation. Not that Rebekah minded, she liked talking with Laura better than anyone.
Once on the shop floor, the staff gathered at the help desk and waited for Liz to come downstairs. As they did so, Rebekah both chatted with Laura and studied a few customers as they entered the store. She also noted that Jodie, who was five months pregnant, and the new girl Claire were already working, manning the checkouts. The rest of the staff would be on stock replenishment, customer service... or cleaning duty.
