Chapter #5

The Savannah area.

Connor walked forward, his friends around him. He approached the gate and push through the turnstile. The kids bags with their clothes and items for the 3 days stayed on a separate bus that would be waiting for them at the hotel when they reached it around lunch time.

Connor shook his head as he reflected on what had just happened. He was irritated, and was almost annoyed at the silence, knowing the entity was still in his head, lying there in wait.

Connor heard a metal thud behind and he turned around to look behind him. There was Sabrina stumbling at the turnstile, her ample chest jiggling slightly. Connor wasn't exactly attracted to Sabrina, but he couldn't deny that her body was well developed for her age. She developed young, her chest already at a D-cup. Connor laughed though as he saw Sabrina smack the turnstile.

"Stupid thing.", she spat as she pushed again at the turnstile in futility.

"Miss, I need to activate for it to open.", the skinny park employee said lazily said, obviously still tired from being up this early.

"Whatever.", Sabrina said, rolling her eyes. "Just do it."

The employee activated the turnstile and Sabrina shimmied past it as she joined the other in front of her.

Miles looked to Connor and spoke. "Hey, me, Simon and Amanda were looking to get a bite to eat before we get started. Missing breakfast wasn't smart."

"Shut up.", Simon said. "I was busy packing all morning."

"Maybe you should have packed last night.", Amanda said in her southern drawl, laughing a bit.

"Whatever.", Simon said as he squinted before looking into the park, still only just past the entrance gate. "There, Some kind of Egyptian themed restaurant. Can't say I've had it, but at this point I'd eat an elephant..."

Miles went wide-eyed. "Dude, we're in the savanah area. The elephants might hear you.", he looked from side to side.

Amanda laughed and pushed past the two. "let's go, I'm starving. We'll meet up with you and Sabrina in a bit, I'll text you to see where you're at when you're done."

Connor nodded and Sabrina threw an arm over his shoulder. Connor winced a bit as one of Sabrina's studded bracelets smacked him in the back of the neck.

"Ah, we'll have fun, dude. Let's go.", Sabrina said, an almost sarcastic tone to her speech.

Connor half-smiled at his friend, trying to hide his growing discomfort and anxiety at the circumstances that had befallen him.

"You seem quiet, Lewis. What's up?", Sabrina asked with sudden concern.

Connor coughed. "Uh, yeah, fine. I'm just tired, didn't sleep well, you know."

"Yeah, I got you.", Sabrina said, finding the answer sufficient. "Let's get a move on."

The pair walked for a moment, taking in the immaculate scenery. The place seemed to flaunt the money that went into it at every turn. To say it gave Disney World a run for it's money would be a fair comparison. The walked for a bit before they saw one of the first animals at the park. Being led by a harness was a zebra by a park employee. Connor was surprised to see one so close, but the park had apparently head-hunted to get some of the best animal trainers in the world. Some of Connor's classmates had gathered in front of the Zebra to get a better look.

Connor felt his blood run cold as he heard the voice in his head.

"Hmm... Her, she will do..."

"Who?", Connor thought to himself, hoping to get some kind of answer.

"The black haired one."

Connor looked at the group and saw the only person with black hair in the group. It was Nicole Thompson, one of the girls on the girl's basketball team. She was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. She shifted from side to side on her white tennis shoes as her black ponytail swung gently behind her. She moved forward, clearly prompted by the trainer and began to pet the mane of the zebra.

"Close your eyes, child. I will take it from here.", the voice said.

Connor, in fear of disobeying the voice, closed his eyes promptly. After only a second or two the voice resumed. "Open."

Connor opened his eyes and saw that Nicole was still shifting from side to side, but her steps could be clearly heard from the short distance to her, mostly due to the black hooves extending from her ankles. Connor looked at the Zebra and saw it's hind legs ending in pale skin, now wearing Nicole's tennis shoes.

"How are it's ankles holding up it's weight?", Connor thought.

"I make adjustments as I see fit. I would never make a change to harm any living creature, even you humans."

"Unless it involves driving me insane and frying my brain...", Connor thought.

"That outcome is entirely in your hands.", the voice said plainly.

"Noted...", Connor thought as he continued observing the display in front of him.

Connor and Sabrina began to casually walk forward to get a better look and hear what was going on in front of them, still staying a few steps behind the group. Sabrina nudged Connor as she too was now watching the impromptu show. "Can't stand her. Always being so loud. I can hear her coming down the hall anytime I'm in class. That clopping could give some of the concerts I've been to a run for their money."

Connor laughed nervously as he processed seeing the impossible sight in front of him. "Yeah..."

"You know, I still remember back in 4th grade when she came in with those stupid designer horseshoes her mom got her. Some stupid crap about being form the best ranch in the state.", Sabrina said, her eyes narrowing in annoyance.
