"Wow, Apple Bloom! It's only been a week since we've started on medical potions, and you've already made your first antibiotic! You might just be a prodigy in more than just cutie marks!"
"Aw shucks, Twilight. Ah wouldn't even know herbal essences over ambrosia, if it weren't for you being such a good teacher!"
It's summer time. And, for Apple Bloom - since she is out of school for a while - it is more commonly Twilight Time. Even though Princess Twilight Sparkle had gotten a castle; a friendship pupil in Starlight Glimmer; and even responsibility over a magical mission map, she still finds time to personally teach the Cutie Mark Crusaders how to hone secondary skills.
"Don't try to downplay the growth of your skills, Apple Bloom. You truly have a talent for recipe making! I guess it shouldn't be a surprise, considering cooking runs in your family."
"Yeah, Ah guess cookin' and potion makin' aren't too different from each other...Hmmm...Matter of fact, Ah actually never really tried doin' any kind of cookin', other than bakin' some fritters here and there...Gasp! Ah'm an Apple! But, Ah don't know that much about cookin' food, yet! Ah've been spendin' all this time potion makin' and cutie mark crusadin', that Ah haven't even taken the time to really learn how ta cook!"
Twilight looked at Apple Bloom bemusedly, "Well..."
"Well! Ah've got to fulfill mah duty as a proper Apple, and broaden mah skill set! Time ta become a chef!", Apple Bloom began to gallop out of Twilight's potion lab.
"W-Wait! Where are you going, Apple Bloom? We can still continue and start with the next lesson, you know!"
Apple Bloom yelled back as she clopped down the long hallway, "It's okay, Twilight! Ah didn't want to take up much more of your time, anyway! We'll continue another day!"
Twilight sighed in disappointment, "And here I was hoping I could spend a little more time teaching something different...I guess even finally getting those cutie marks can't stop those fillies from taking on new challenges.", Twilight then smiled warmly and giggled in amusement. She nodded serenely as she began to clean up.

Apple Bloom briskly trotted through Twilight's castle halls, some thoughts going through her head as she already began brainstorming how to proceed on her new project.
"Ah could always just learn how to cook from mah family and their recipes...But, Ah also wanna try doin' mah own thing..."
Then, Apple Bloom skidded to a halt as she realized what wing of the castle she was in. She looked towards the large, violet door that lead to the castle library.
She put a hoof to her chin, "Hmmmm...the library could have a cook book Ah could use ta learn some new recipes...But, we've got family recipes at home, too..."
Then, she just remembered something, "Wait a minute. AJ is the only one at the farm, right now. And, Big Macintosh took Granny Smith to Whinnyapolis for an elderly farmers convention...They could be gone for a while. AJ could teach me how ta cook family recipes, but..."
