"Chara," the little goat boy whined, "Are you sure that we should do this? What if something horrible happens."
The human in the green and yellow shirt rolled her eyes at Asriel's qeustion. Though he was royalty, the son of a strong and mighty king, he could be such a child!
"Of course it's safe!" she snapped, "Now get me those candles so that I can read this."
Asriel took a step back, biting his lower lip, before scurrying off to do as Chara commanded. Under the goat family's home was a library. It looked quite welcoming, with its soft chairs, beautifully patterned carpet, and books stacked on shelves in the wall, ranging from many topics. It was just too bad that it was so dame dark in there.
But a few of them had spell books, and Chara, being the little mischievous one, wanted to try one out. She was currently standing on a stand, a large leather book opened before her. When Asriel brought the candle, the words became clear on the pages, and Chara found that she could pronounce them with ease.
"Mom says that we shouldn't play around with magic," Asriel cautioned, no doubt another futile attempt to change the human's mind.
But she ignored him, as expected. Instead, she began to read the words out loud, and purple wisps if smoke began to pour out between the folds of the pages.
"Ah, Chara," Asriel said, growing nervous.
The smoke was filling the room and even drifting up the stairway that led to the upper part of the house.
"Chara!" Asriel exclaimed, afraid, but the human seemed to ignore him.
The purple smoke had filled the entire room this time, and the goat boy was coughing. Suddenly, as if the smoke seemed to ignite, there was a bright flash of light.
Chara rubbed her eyes and looked around herself. The room still looked the same, but a few books had fallen from the shelf and papers laid scattered over the floor. She searched for Asriel and spotted him laying on the floor.
But did anything happen to him?
