You look around the city, soaking in the all-too familiar sights of the buildings surrounding you. After checking your phone to confirm you're at the right place, you send a quick text to Nicole, your girlfriend.
"Hey babe, I'm here! Just let me know when you're close and I'll keep an eye out for ya!"
You put your phone down and chuckle to yourself at the irony of your statement. After all, Nicole was a petite person, standing at a proud 4'6" while you, on the other hand, were slightly on the taller side, at 6'2". If anything, she would be the one that would be able to see you first.
After a few minutes of waiting, you feel a tap on your arm, calling your attention to the woman standing beside you.
"Hey darling, sorry for the wait. Traffic was kinda slow today." She beamed as she came in for a hug, which would have been a little awkward because of the height difference between the two of you. Thankfully, due to the two of you being in a relationship for nearly three years, you knew exactly what to do in that situation. You bent forward, held her firmly, and lifted her off the ground effortlessly.
"Wheee!"
After a few moments, you break off the embrace and slowly place her back on the ground.
Your thoughts snap back to the purpose of your meeting today. "So, what was the big surprise you had for me?"
"You'll see, but for now, let's go and get something to eat, I'm starving!"
After that last exchange, you felt that something was... off, but you couldn't put your finger on what it was. Shrugging it off, you put your arm over her shoulder and headed off to the usual place.
