He figures out a way to get into the slave market.

Going into the forest alone was a dangerous way to go. And even if they captured a general, monster forces would be on them to destroy the experiment. Dr.Kai decided that buying an elf would be the safest bet, and probably cheaper than mercenaries anyway, covered by the cost of his benefactor. He was a aware of a monster slave market a few miles south in a large cave. And, the crafty wizard could cast a spell of mirage on himself to make his appearance more monstrous! It seemed perfect!

Kai had decided to take on the appearance of an Orc, they were common enough to be seen as normal but threatening enough to be left alone by anyone with ill intent. Once the spell was cast and money was collected, the mage began the southern walk to the cave, trying to keep to himself and not arouse any suspicion. The cave itself reeked of monsters, enough the make the doctor cough the moment he approached the gaping maw of the cave. (-1 mp). He entered, the initial muddy path breaking into the interior proper, a makeshift market lit by bug filled lanterns.

Hundreds of humans were being sold, glazed looks on their eyes for most, a minority looked frightened by their surroundings, and monsters hungrily eyed them and attached chains to their new purchases. Other stalls held magics and artifacts of power that Kai had never seen or heard about before! The other stalls seemed trivial, to him at least. The footwear peddlers always had customers eager to buy, it seemed, and so did monsters shilling out strange devices made to torture feckless humans.
