This choice: They soon arrive at Ashley's • Go Back...Chapter #6They soon arrive at Ashley's by: Morphology Leah darted in and out of traffic, causing Josh to hold on for dear life to the handle bar above the door frame. "So Josh, what are you in the mood for tonight?" She asked as she started to stop at a red light, much to Josh's joy.
Breathing a sigh of relief, he brought his hand down from the handle and set it back on his lap. He thought about it for a moment, while the car was stopped. "Oh, how about Mexican. I feel that we haven't had that for awhile, right?" He suggested and felt his stomach rumble at the thought of nachos or street tacos.
With the light still red, Leah turned back over to him. "Are you kidding me?" Josh was a little taken aback by the sudden change in demeanor. "You picked that last time." Josh thought he could see her turning a little green behind the gills at the thought of it. "I swear, I thought I was going to vomit out of both ends." Not helping but laugh at her predicament, Josh genuinely felt bad for her. "How about pizza? Almost nobody complains about pizza and I think the kids will like it too, don't you think?"
Thinking about it for a moment, Josh didn't know how old the 'kids' were, but nodded his head. "Yeah, what kids don't like pizza." Remembering that his mom gave him the credit card, he turned back to Leah. "Oh, uh... My mom gave me her credit card, so I don't think I can pitch in this time." He said, kind of embarrassed that he was dropping the ball so much tonight.
Leah shrugged it off. "Its alright. Either we all can give you money and you pay for it or I can spot you this time and I will let you spot me next time." Josh thought it over for a moment, he didn't mind having some extra pocket money, but he's sure that his mom will find out about it.
"I think you can spot me this time and I will let my mom know to help next time." Josh replied, but stopped after he realized what he said. He as thankful for at that moment Leah started to pull into a drive way. Josh looked at the house and noticed that it looked like every other cookie-cutter houses on the block, but this one had pink and purple toys all over the front lawn. "How old were the girls again?" He said out loud, mostly to himself.
Leah, putting her vehicle back to park, replied with a thought, as if she was trying to remember herself. "I think 4 and 6. Come on lets go." She gestured out of the vehicle and to the house. "The girls are waiting for us." He looked around and noticed that there were several vehicles on the side of the road. Nodding his head, Josh followed her example and got out of the vehicle. As the went through the door, the amount of toys was astounding. He remembered his mom talking about how little time Ashley had to be at home with the girls and when she did have time, they wanted to be with her and, in turn, this meant that she had little to no time to clean and pick up. Since the girls were still young, having them pick up after themselves seemed kinda pointless, but Josh wasn't a mom and didn't know the troubles.
"Leah and Josh are here." Beth called out to the group, who were in the kitchen with what looked to be bottles of alcohol and other stuff. "Come on in here and we can start the board game." She cried out, motioning them over to her.
Holding out her hand and holding up a finger, Leah replied back to her. "Hold on a minute girls, I got to talk to Josh about something real quick." Not really knowing what was going on, Beth just shrugged her shoulders and went back to the kitchen. Leah grabbed Josh's arm and guided him to a vacant looking room with a princess movie playing. He couldn't see anyone in there and thought that the girls were probably outside playing. Leah closed the door behind them and turned back to Josh. "Now, tell me whats going on." Leah commanded, wondering what was going on with her friend. "You seem a little off today. First you say you never wear that." She gestured to the clothes that he was wearing. "Second, you can't remember getting sick with us from that awful Mexican food. Lastly, you don't remember how old Chloe and Britney are."
Not knowing what to do, he decided to come clean to Leah. "Look, I have something to tell you." He told her about the mysterious book that he found and the power that it gave him. Then transitioned over to his mom and how that Leah and the girls were only his friend because of it. "So that's why I'm acting this way." Leah looked like she didn't know how to process this new bit of information. Josh could see her face and imagined a hamster wheel turning, trying to keep up.
"That's a load of Bull Shit and you know it." She cried out, not knowing what to say, but quickly heard an audible gasp from somebody in the hallway. Leah opened the door to see who was ease dropping on their conversation and found ________ standing there with their ear on the door. Josh didn't really know how they didn't fall through the door like a bad sitcom show. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
