This choice: Jenn wants to watch the movie • Go Back...Chapter #7Jenn wants to watch the movie by: yugglopo   "How about we watch that movie?" Jenn proposed. "We can always study after."
"Works for me." Josh said as he lead his friend downstairs.
Once they were downstairs, Jenn plopped down on the couch while Josh went rummaging through his family's movie collection. When looking through, he noticed some of the movies had been changed. He figured that the new movies were meant to match the preferences of Kira instead of his two former sisters. "Ah here it is." He finally said.
"What movie is it?" Jenn asked.
"You'll see." Josh said, trying to force back some laughter. "Its a surprise."
The reason Josh wanted to hide his movie from Jenn was because if she found out what it was she would have immediately said no. The movie he picked was a horror film, a genre that Jenn hated. His plan was to get his friend scared so she would end up clinging on to him. He hoped that his presence would make her feel safe, so she could see him in a different light. Maybe even as more than a friend.
Once the movie started and Jenn figured out what was going on, she immediately tried to get out. "Come on Josh, you know I hate horror movies."
"This is a good one though. And don't worry, I'm here for you if you get scared."
Everything seemed to be going to plan. Jenn was getting frightened, and she was using an unfazed Josh as a human pillow. Then about halfway through, Josh's plans were derailed when Jenn got an idea.
She picked up the remote and paused the movie. Seeing as they were halfway through, Jenn pitched her idea. "I got an idea." She exclaimed.
"What is it?"
"This movie is really scary for me, and you roped me in to watching it. I think it's only fair if you're scared too."
"Huh?" Was all Josh could muster. He was incredibly confused.
"I want to swap bravery with you. We're halfway through the movie, I was scared for half and you'll be scared for the other."
"I think we're fine the way we are, do you need me to protect you again?" He teased.
"I'm serious. If you don't do it, I won't study with you. We both know you need some help for that test on Wednesday.
Josh knew she was right. He needed all the help he could get, or else he would probably get another bad grade and be grounded.
"Fine, I agree to swap bravery with you." He announced. The familiar flash consumed the living room, and left as quick as it came.
"Awesome!" Jenn said. "You feel any different?"
"Uhh... no." Josh lied. There was no physical swap, but he could tell it worked. He was already nervous for the second half of the movie.
"Yeah right." Announced a now confident Jenn.
Just then, a new person entered the room. It was Josh's new sister Kira, whom he had almost forgot about. "Hey big bro. And Jenn, didn't see you there. You mind if I watch the movie with you guys?"
"Not at all." Jenn said. "It's scary though, just to warn you."
"I'll be fine, Josh is probably really scared though."
"Oh trust me, he is." Jenn said sadistically.
About two minutes in to the continuation of the movie, there was a minor jump scare. Josh immediately squealed and buried his head into Jenn's breast.
Kira paused the movie. "Geez Josh, we're thing to watch a movie here. Your little sister and girlfriend aren't scared."
"I'm not his girlfriend." Jenn intervened.
"Really, well..."
"That's enough Kira!" Josh said removing his head from Jenn's chest. He guessed Kira figured out his crush on Jenn in this reality, but he was not about to let Kira tell her. He refrained from looking at the screen though.
Kira was about to reply but the phone started to ring. Kira found the phone in the kitchen and answered. When she came back, she place the phone next to the remote on the table. "That was Courtney. She said Josie's having a sleepover, I'm gonna go pack." She left Josh and Jenn to themselves on the couch.
The rest of the movie scared Josh so much that he wasn't sure he'd be able to go to bed unless he got his bravery back. The second half was definitely scarier than the first.
"Did you like it Josh?" Jenn joked.
"No, that was terrible!" He replied.
"Really? Because I kind of liked it." She said. "By the way, that's what you get for making me watch a scary movie."
"Okay you win. Can we swap back now?"
