"Why don't we start studying?" Jenn asked. "You can never be too prepared for a test."
The two got all of their supplies set up and sat next to each other eat Josh's desk. They exchanged notes, and quizzed each other with flash cards that Jenn created. After about 15 minutes of studying, Josh heard a knock on his door.
"Come in." He told the mystery person.
The person who walked in was Kira, and Josh was surprised because he forgot about the swap he had earlier made with Jenn.
"Kira? What are you doing here?" He asked.
"Umm... I live here, I'm your SISTER." Kira said to her new brother as if it was obvious.
"Oh right. Why are you in my room though?"
"I just want to play on our PlayStation."
"Umm... our PlayStation?" was very confused.
"Yeah, we share this for the last time. It's not just yours."
"Right." He said, not very convinced.
"I wish mom would let me get my own. Or at least let us move this one downstairs." Everything about this was weird for Josh, Kira was acting as if they'd always been siblings. He looked over to Jenn, who could only crack a smile. "Oh hey Jenn, didn't see you there." Kira added.
"Hey Kira, nice to see my friend's little sister again." Jenn said waving. She was just toying with Josh's emotions at this point.
The studying for Josh and Jenn continued, but not for long. Once Kira fired up the console, the game became too loud for the two high schoolers to focus. "Someone should tell her to turn the volume down." Josh told his friend.
"You do it, she's YOUR sister after all." She replied.
"Fine, I will." He said standing up. "Hey sis, we're trying to study here. Can you turn the volume down?"
"Sure thing, that won't be a problem." She said not looking back. Josh saw her reach for the remote.
Just as Josh sat down, he heard the volume being adjusted. It didn't go down though, it went up! "Umm... I said turn it down Kira."
"I heard you."
"Then why didn't you turn it down?"
"Because I don't want to."
"Kira, please."
"No just leave me be. You can be annoying sometimes."
"Really? Because your being the pest right now."
"A pest who's got more friends than you." She retorted. She didn't have as many friends as Courtney, but she had her fair share.
Josh heard his door burst open. His mom was standing in the doorway. "What is the meaning of this?"
"Kira's blasting the volume in my TV and we're having trouble studying over here." He said gesturing to Jenn and himself.
"Kira, why can't you just leave your brother to do what he wants?" Kim asked.
"Because I want to play video games."
"Then either turn the volume down or leave Josh and his friend alone."
"Fine."
"And one more thing. Apologize to your brother." She said pointing to Josh.
"But mom..."
"No buts, now!
"I'm sorry Josh. I'll turn the volume down."
"Good, now I better not have to come up here again." The eldest of the four said, before leaving the youngest three alone once again.
