Experience Will Make You Rich

Lance gave it some thought. Most of the rookies seemed to be clubbing together, but was that really the best decision? All it was doing in his eyes was turning that prime steak into a multipack of prime steak. He shook his head, finding it a little hard to meet Camo's eyes. "L-look, thanks for the offer, but I'm going to see if I can get one of the veterans," Lance said slowly.

"Oh..." Camo replied quietly, looking down for a moment. "Well... okay then... yeah, good luck with that."

Lance nodded his head a little bit, a hoof reaching up to rub against the back of his neck, before realising that was now hidden away by armour. With a sigh instead he turned to the side. "Good luck to you too. I'm going to... you know, check out the veterans," Lance explained.

Camo didn't say anything and Lance shrugged before trotting away. As soon as he was a few feet clear he let out a loud sigh. Damn, that was awkward. Why did he have to make it so awkward? Couldn't have just said no... So busy ruminating on things Lance missed the doorway by a few inches, trotting up right to a towering earth pony guard, his black fur rippling with muscle except for his pendulous and hanging guy. Lance caught himself a single step from bouncing into that balley, the rookie guard having to crane his head up to look at the equine. The guard looked back with green eyes.

Suddenly a hoof almost as big as Lance's head was on his shoulder. "Where do you think you're going, rookie? This pond of guppies too small for you? Want to swim with the sharks?" the towering pony boomed.

Lance found himself shaking a little, the massive pony proving quite intimidating indeed. Hooves that could crush his head, a belly that could hold his form and a toned but curvy ass that could press him into paste. He was a guardspony, though... and a tough pony like that would make a good teammate! Though maybe it would be best to shift the topic and get past him... surely another pony could help. All you needed was an excuse.
