The next movie you watch is a family film, called "The household toast-making appliance that was both small and courageous." Lynia sat through the movie, mostly confused.
"I don't understand" she says, afterwards. "Why would anyone feel for the characters? They were inanimate objects." You laugh, and respond "That's another human thing. We bond with almost everything. People, animals, plants, inanimate objects. In the past, people would talk about the sun and moon as though they were living."
Lynia seems surprised by this, and falls into silence for a while, and then speaks up. "Ok, I think I understand. In the same way that humans are more violent, they are also much more friendly than our culture. Speaking of which, how strong is the bond that people have with each other? Friends, I mean."
You ponder this, then answer "Well, it depends. Some people are not really friends with others, and it's just a charade or for personal gain, but others have true friends that have bonds stronger than a family tie. You understand?" you ask. She looks even more surprised, but answers "I think so. Where I come from, everyone is expected to think of careers and family first in life."
