It had all started early that morning with a mysterious, small package that arrived in the post. Salim Kaur, 25, was now sat in the kitchen, supporting his head in his hands and staring down at the contents of the package that had arrived earlier, along with a scribbled note. It was obvious he was partly perplexed and partly curious, with a hint of skepticism thrown in.
The voice of his little sister Sukhi, 21, snapped him out of his self-induced trance. "You've not started breakfast? I'm at work soon" she asked him, as she neatened her Wilko polo shirt and tucked a couple of loose strands of her long black hair into place.
"Oh, sorry sis, not this morning. I forgot." Salim apologized. "Why don't I drive you to work today, and we can stop off at some place for a sandwich okay?" he offered.
Suki nodded, contented. "Sounds good."
Salim smiled at his sister in her work uniform, feeling proud as a big brother a should.
Sukhi happened to see the ring that sat on the kitchen table alongside the note. The ring looked like nothing special, just a plain gold band with a small silver snake figure situated atop it. "Where'd that come from?" she inquired.
Salim then stared at the ring for a moment, then shook his head. "Just a cheap ring I found outside, nothing special." he answered, standing up and scrunching up the hand written note, throwing it in the bin nearby. As Sukhi then shrugged and opened the fridge to see if there was anything to pick at, Salim paused... before slipping the ring onto his finger. A perfect fit..
There was a sudden surge of knowledge that shot through Salim's head, causing him to go dizzy for a moment. And just like that... he knew what the ring was for. It gave it's wearer to ability to...
