Shawn's mom Helen was a striking woman. She was
still fit
and trim for a mother of two teens. She was wearing her
coaches uniform and a silver whistle hung around her neck.
Her fourteen year old son looked up from the tv.
"Jeez I wish you weren't too old for the team,"
she said, "those boys of mine kick like girls, I've never
had
such a team of sissies in my life!"
Shawn winced at her look of disdain but quickly
recovered. "Yeah I'd show them pansies how to work the ball
but they'd probably trip over their own feet. Well have fun
with the 'girls'" he said.
Helen gave Shawn a friendly
pat on he arm. "At least I have a son who has some athletic
ability. You're becoming quite a young man. I'll have to
start watching you around those cheerleaders when you come
to the games"
Shawn chuckled as his mom moved toward the
door "aw mom," he said shyly.
He watched out the window
as his mother pulled out of the driveway and headed for the
soccer field. I'm not going to do it, I'm not going
to... he thought as the car faded from view. I'll
just watch some tv.
He turned the channel just in
time to see a Brady Bunch rerun. Marcia was brushing her
hair at her vanity. She was wearing a short minidress and
kneesocks. Oh no I'm not going to do it! He looked
upstairs toward his older sisters room. She was away at her
first year of college. No I can't do it!
On tv
Marcia stood up and twirled in front of her mirror. But
Shawn missed that scene. He was already at his sisters
bedroom door.
He slowly opened the door half expecting a
wildcat to jump out at him. He walked into the bedroom and
looked around. I'm just looking, not doing anything
wrong.
