It had been six years now since Tiffany had passed, and Ashley had just turned 18. You'd hoped, for her sake, that by now she'd be the spitting image of her mother - who'd been a cheerleader in high school, but the poor girl had taken after you. You weren't unattractive by any means - nor was she - but she was clearly not the knockout her mother had been. It had taken both of you a while to get over Tiffany's death - and as Ashley was now moving on to college you were just now starting to move back into the dating pool.
You'd been seeing Stephanie off and on for about a month, and it seemed to be moving in a serious direction, but both of you had children already and Stephanie's sons were still fairly young. You expected it might last a few months if you got committed to it, but probably wouldn't be a long term relationship. So, you were still looking - and so was Stephanie.
Ashley had a summer job as a temp secretary at a local office that started a little after your workday, so you usually found yourself headed out the door to work as she came down for breakfast. This had also been going on for about a month, since school had ended, and so the process had become fairly ingrained. Ashley would say hi from the top step, reach the bottom step and give you a hug. She was enough shorter than your 6'2" height that this put her at just about even height thanks to the step. You'd give her a quick kiss on the forehead, give some fatherly platitude like "Have a good day at work, sweetie" and then you'd go out the door and she'd go into the kitchen.
This morning however things went, strangely. Ashley arrived at the top of the stairs, said "Hi'. She bounded down the stairs, stopping on the bottom step to give you a hug, you went to give her a kiss on the forehead and wound up kissing the bridge of her nose - which made her giggle. "Um... have a good day at work, sweetie", you half mumbled out as you looked at her for a moment wondering if she looked different somehow. Haircut - no, different make-up - maybe, new outfit - no, new shoes.. must be, she must be wearing taller heels today, that had to be what it was. Internally mystery solved you headed out the door to work, missing that your daughter was wearing the same slippers she always wore when she first came downstairs as her shoes sat near the door.
Choice A: The next morning Ashley informs you she needs to go bra shopping, it's feeling a little small
Choice B: That evening Ashley comes home without her bra as she had to remove it half way through work for discomfort - and her outfit is showing more skin than you're happy about.
