You gave Nook a minute to regain his composure, then told him you'd keep working. He explained that unlike working at his office, you'd be paid hourly at the retail store, taking care of the shop, but more importantly, the customers. The customers would pretty much do whatever they want to you, but had no obligation to pay you. You were essentially a free human for the town to play with when the shop didn't need you, and Timmy and Tommy really had the shop under control. You thank Tom Nook for the wonderful job and before you leave, he mentions that you should come back to him to cash in his hours at Nookington's.
It's a decent walk between the two buildings but you reach the store no problem, Timmy and Tommy, unlike there dad, were way too busy to use you at the moment, so they let you roam the store to take care of customer service. Not long after putting on your uniform you run into Bob, a purple cat from town. He was the nicest guy to you in town, but that wasn't really a noteworthy achievement. He smiled and said, "Your working for Nook? That's a pretty sweet gig man, even. At minimum wage, it's still like 1,500 bells an hour here." You figure that's pretty good, especially for what Nook said you may have to put up with here. "You do realize that you'll have to do anything I want though right?" You nod, wondering what the purple cat had in store for you.
