Chapter #8

Damon and Ramon, The Two-Headed Keldeo

    by: Ctbro Author IconMail Icon
Damon and Ramon did not pursue the fleeing Ursaring, its frenzy seeming to have been ended when it realized it was fighting against stronger opponents.

"A very long story..." The other Keldeo head spoke, which Zach thought he remembered it being called Ramon. "We probably should retell it in a... less open area though."

"Agreed." Damon nodded as he and Ramon walked up to Zach's side. "Jump on our back; we'll carry you to a safe location."

"We will?" Ramon rose an eyebrow. The two heads of the Keldeo stared at each other for a few moments, as if having an argument with their eyes. "Fine, we will carry you." Ramon added. The two knelt down so Damon's brother would have an easier time climbing on.

"Okay..." Zach answered as he hesitantly threw his leg over and saddled the colt pokemon.

"Hold on tight." Damon and Ramon both warned at the same time. A moment later, they took off at high speed, bounding through the forrest.

Zach watched as the forest rushed past him, barely being able to make out individual trees and plants in the blur of speed. A few minutes later, Damon and Ramon stopped at the edge of a shallow cave. It was late, and Zach assumed that the Keldeos did not want to travel in the dark. He dismounted and walked the short distance into the cave.

Zach turned around to face the two-headed colt pokemon; the two heads were nearly identical in appearance. "Is that really you Damon?" He asked the head that stemmed from the left of the Keldeo's shared body.

"Yep, its me." Ramon answered. "The new and improved me." The lips of his brother's horse-like mouth pulled back in an attempt at a smile.

The right head of the Keldeo impatiently cleared its throat.

"Oh, and this is Ramon. He's my twin brother." Damon introduced his other half.

"Twin brother..." Zach repeated, confused.

Damon laughed, nervously. "You are my brother Zach, but... I was adopted into your family." He began, restating what both of them had known.

Damon was adopted as a toddler, though Zach had never learned the story behind the adoption. Zach just always thought of Damon as his elder brother.

"But in truth... I did use my pokemon journey as an excuse to go out and learn about my past, before I was adopted. I did not want you, Mom, and Dad to worry, so I did not say anything." The left, front hoof of the two-headed Keldeo began to kick the dirt, breaking up the hardened soil. "At first, I could not find many leads. But, I did figure out that my birth parents were researches, studying the pokemon on this island. So as a young trainer with only one pokemon, I set off for here."

"Thats where we ran into each other... literally." Ramon spoke up. His voice sounded nearly identical to Damon's, though there was a slight edge to it. "We were both looking for answers on this island, but the pokemon here, as you just saw, our very strong. We both were running away from different pokemon, and we ended up running into each other. That was... quiet the meeting..." Ramon eyes glance upward, seeming to remember it fondly.

"Yeah, it was crazy running into someone who looked just like me, sounded just like me. We even wore similar outfits, though I had shorts on while Ramon had long pants on." Damon said, excited. "We spend a lot of time getting to know each other, and we explored the island together."

"We were both interested in finding info on our birth parents." Ramon added. "But after a few weeks... we ran into something too dangerous."

"We, and our two pokemon, got beat up... badly. We were on the brink of death... If I'm being completely honest." Damon continued. "A crazed Duraludon attacked us. It was this steel-dragon beast. It would have killed us if... Ho-Oh had not suddenly appeared."

"Ho-Oh?" Zach asked, not familiar with that pokemon. He was not familiar with Duraludon either, but he decided against asking about it.

"Ho-Oh... Guardian of the Skies, and the Rainbow Pokemon." Damon said.

"Damon and I... were in very bad shape." Ramon continued their story. "Worse shape than Damon first mentioned. I think we actually did die, because soon after the legendary pokemon showed, I felt a warmness bring me back. Of course... that warmness brought both of us back in a... much closer way."

"Wait... Ho-Oh did this!" Zach's mouth had dropped in shock. He looked back and forth between them.

"Yeah. Ho-Oh revived us both as... this. A two-headed Keldeo." Damon acknowledged with a smile. "She had mentioned something about our souls clinging together in death, so it was impossible to revive us separately." He spoke nonchalantly, as if being killed and revived as a conjoined pokemon was no big deal. "But it is so cool being a pokemon now. Ramon and I are crazy strong!"

Ramon cleared his throat. Of the two, he seemed to be more practical. "It did take us quiet a while to... learn how to live like this. Calling it close quarters would be an understatement."

"Well I'm glad you're safe Damon... and you too Ramon. I guess I have two older brothers now." Zach wrapped his arm around the two Keldeos.
