Finally, you open your mouth and Dahlia shoves in the mouthful without any hesitation. You instantly feel the pang of the chili on your tongue, but it's nothing you can't handle and you don't want to show weakness in front of your older sister.
"Time for the next one!" Dahlia squeals, already prepped with another massive mouthful.
You quickly swallow. "No, no more," You protest.
But, before you can close your mouth again, another spoonful is shoved into your mouth. You call out in protest, but start furiously chewing as Dahlia reaches for more, but before she does she hands the hot sauce to your little sister, Samantha and stands up on her chair, addressing the entire restaurant.
"Hey everyone! Who wants to see my sister eat this whole bottle of hot sauce?!" She yelled.
Everyone cheered and gathered round as Dahlia motions for Samantha to cover the plate. She obliges happily. You look to your mom for help, but she's blissfully cheering with the rest of them. Smirking at you, your sister fills the spoon with a mountain of nachos and hot sauce and shovels it in my mouth. The heat is alomst unbearable and you try to grab for a drink, but are stopped when the next mouthful is taken in. Dahlia keeps shoveling food, not letting you get in a breather, over and over again. The crowd counts - "15, 16, 17!" You feel the food dribbling down your chin but are paralysed to do anything. "27, 28, 29!" The pain on your tongue is indescribable. "40, 41, 42!"
Your sister gives you the last mouthful as the crowd cheers and you sigh with relief between chews. You feel your stomach grumble, but ignore it as you desperately reach for some water and down it. The crowd disperses and you glare at Dahlia. She just grins and wipes the food off of your chin with a napkin.
"That was fun!" She smiled. "Right, guys!"
Samantha nods her head, vigorously, grinning from ear to ear. You mum smiles and rolls her eyes. You scowl at your sister and get up from the table.
"I'm going to bed," You announce.
"Oh, honey, are you sure?" You mom asks. "Are you feeling OK?"
"Yes, mom I'm fine, I'm just tired, that's all,"
You see Dahlia smirk at you and narrow your eyes as you leave the restaurant and make your way upstairs to your room. As soon as you arrive, you feel your stomach growl again, but decide to ignore, as despite everything, you still were tired from the flight, so you crawl into bed and fall into a fitful sleep.
The next morning...
