"We might as well start here. Since thisIS part of the resort and all." Mavis said. "Yeah, that sounds like a good idea." Greg already become a "yes" man. "Well then, let's not dawdle about anymore and get this tour started!" Mavis happily said. Greg gave a smile before hopping into a cart with her and going down the trail with her. "First things first newbie, this place's name is the Limestone Ridge. Pretty hard to forget a name like that." "Yep it sure is." Greg said back. "You can drop the act now, As fun as it is to see you be a complete boy scout. It gets annoying after a while." The penguin smirks. "oh right, uh sorry..." The human lurched back in embarrassment. "Oh don't worry about it! You don't need to be so formal with me, I'm not like Miss Holmes." Greg sighs a bit from relief. Anyway we're almost at our first destination. The trail become a tad less bumpy as the two now start to drive on cut grass. It was a cool emerald green with much bigger patches of lighter greens up ahead. Mavis stepped on the brakes before coming to a stop. "This here is the golf course, you don't need much explaining for this one. But what I will say is this place is great for a good old fashioned relaxing game of golf. Greg nodded in response.
Just then a white projectile whizzed past Greg's head into a tree behind the two. Mavis and Greg both turn in unison to see a smoking hot golf ball lodged into the side of said tree. "LOGAN I SWEAR TO THE MIGHTY FORCES ABOVE IF YOU RUIN MY SHOT AGAIN I'M GOING TO STUFF YOU IN A BOX AND SHIP YOU TO AFRICA!!! A clearly angry voice behind them said. The duo looked to see a fuming Ox anthro yelling and clenching his fist at a bear anthro. "It's not my fault you suck at golf." the bear calmly retorts back. "I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW THAT I WAS THE REGIONAL CHAMPION WHERE I COME FROM!!" "Yeah clearly because everyone else was worse than you." "WHY YOU LITTLE--!!!"
[THE FOLLOWING SCENE WAS DEEMED NOT SUITABLE FOR HUMAN VIEWERS AND WAS THEREFORE REMOVED FROM THIS CHAPTER]
After one life scarring experience later the two decided that they would rather go down the trail by foot. "The next stop is to the cabins, a cozy part of Limestone Ridge that accommodates guests that just feel like getting away from the modern looks of the resort." "Neat." Greg said back. The human and penguin walk into the cabin village and were met with plenty of friendly faces that welcomed them. They may have been more of the staff but it was still nice to get greeted in a friendly and polite manner. "I think now is the time we had ourselves a little break, what do 'ya say?" "Yeah I could go for one after happened.." Greg shuddered. "Back there.."
They sat down in what looked like a cozy sort of cafe. Ordering themselves some coffee for Mavis and a hot cocoa for Greg. "So what made you want to work here of all places? Gaia ain't the type of place that's... gentle to your kind." "I.." Greg thought for a moment before speaking again. "I saw that the pay was good and needed little no skill to do. If that makes any sense." "I guess, but do you know why humans don't last very long here?" Greg shook his head. "Well it's because some anthros feel like humans are beneath them, and take that very literally." The penguin sips her coffee. "Okay then I'll be careful." Greg said. "You'd better be. "Cause I"m already starting to like 'ya." Greg blushed. "As a friend newbie, as a friend." "Oh right- of course." he blushed.
After paying for their drinks Mavis and Greg continue with their tour through Limestone Ridge through another trail. This trail however had far more foliage to it. "Oh and one last thing, be careful when you walk around here alone. There have been reports of people going missing around and those missing people were all around the same size as you." Mavis said. Greg nervously chuckles.
------------- 10 minutes of walking later ------------
"So how did you end up with this job?" Greg asked Mavis. "Let's just say I have certain connections within the resort and leave it at that." Mavis giggles. The forest around the two was pretty dense. Someone who doesn't know their way or follows the trail could easily get lost. Maybe that's how the people ACTUALLY went missing. "Anyway the next stop is just up ahead." Mavis chirped. "Right." Greg said. He followed close behind Mavis.
"Huh...?" Greg stopped dead in his tracks. He looked around his surrounding before looking back at the trail. "Mavis did you hear...?" Greg asked but saw that Mavis was no where to be seen. Mavis warned him about being alone, her words ring in Greg's mind. "The noise... it sounded a bit like..."
