You like the sound of this “Plumper of the Dead” movie, so you fire up the projector and get it started.
Just as you settle into your seat, something about the movie, the chair, the late hour, and the theater itself seems to hypnotize you. You’re watching the movie, but it also feels like the movie is watching you. You feel drawn into it much more than its budget or subject matter would suggest.
The action starts simply enough. Five kids are sneaking into the graveyard next to the high school. Supposedly there’s a secret book of spells hidden there, but the kids aren’t really interested in that, they just want to cause trouble and hook up. The cast so far consists of:
Morgan: A plump, busty, 17-year-old goth girl who knows far too much about the occult.
Candy: A slim 15-year-old “girl next door.” She couldn’t care less about graves or spells or zombies, but she does have a crush on Morgan.
Josh: The average 16-year-old boy who actually lives next door to Candy. He’s tagging along because he has a crush on her, and because he doesn’t want Morgan to be able to say she’s braver than him.
Aimee: Candy’s brawny cousin, a 14-year-old girl who believes she’s going to be a superhero one day (she has no superpowers, but she’s a great wrestler and an okay gymnast) and “volunteered” to come along to “protect” Josh in case there were any zombies so fight.
Iris: Candy’s petite 13-year-old little sister, who doesn’t go to the high school but insisted on tagging along because Morgan invited her so they could ditch the others to have sex.
Your attention wanders as the characters are introduced. On one level, you’re thumbing through your phone looking for the IMDB and TVTRopes pages for this movie. On the other hand, you’re really hoping you get to see at least two of these characters hook up. There have been so many teases: A sweaty Aimee pinning Josh against a wall during a basketball game; Morgan squeezing Iris’s butt when helping her climb a wall; Candy checking Morgan out in the locker room; and so on.
The movie grabs your attention again when Aimee reads from the spellbook (to impress Josh with how easily she could lift it, of course) and accidentally wakes up the zombies. You’ve lost track of where everyone is, or maybe the movie has, because it keeps cutting between interconnected scenes. After the plump zombies (zomBBWs?) wake up, what is the next scene?
