The ripped open brown package lay on Elizabeth's desk, and the store manager was sat back in her swivel chair, twiddling with the ring that now adorned her left second finger. The ring, just a plain, gold band with some kind of inscription on the inside, had arrived in the mail to Wilkos that morning, and Elizabeth was needless to say quite puzzled at who would send it.
She tried it on of course, and she liked the way it fit her finger perfectly. And that was when the rush of knowledge had entered her head, telling her all about the mysterious ring and it's strange power.
"So I can now swap people's body parts and clothes around??" Elizabeth muttered to herself, staring down at her hands. It was hard to believe, but with the necessary info now embedded in her head, she couldn't refute it. She had in effect... a magic ring. And supposedly, those she swapped would not be aware of it unless she allowed them to be.
Usually a professional, firm but fair manager, Elizabeth now contemplated what this meant for her. Of course it didn't have to mean anything, she could take the ring off and put it away. But that was never going to happen. A sly smile, very uncharacteristic, appeared on Elizabeth's pretty face. She knew she had to try the ring out of course, and fortunately she happened to have an entire store full of employees and customers to try her new power out on. She figured no harm would be done, as long as she kept everyone unaware.
She took a deep breath, tossed the now opened packaging into the bin and exited her office, locking the door behind her. As she walked down the hallway leading to the stairs going downstairs, her high heels clicked on the floor. She could actually feel her nerves starting to play up. But she calmed herself, saying repeatedly that nobody would notice anything.
When she emerged out onto the shop floor, she neatened her black jacket and fiddled with the lapels of her red blouse, before also smoothing out her knee-length black skirt. Her appearance checked, she once again started twiddling with the ring on her finger as she scouted the immediate vicinity for her first 'guinea pigs'.
