You put the ring on and you checked how it looked in your hand. You looked at your hand and then in your sister's mirror with approval. Even if you weren't a ring person and even if the ring was a pink crystal and you hated girly stuff you thought it suited you, the gold in your finger making you look more sophisticated and bold and the pink crystal shining in intriguing yet pleasant ways. You could almost swear the thing looked more red than pink giving it a second look, it was a really cool gem
You picked up the book and the wig from your sister's room and left them back in the place they were, and you went back to spend the rest of the day relaxing. You had a good nap, enjoyed some videogames and remembering you had to do some chores started through them when there wasn't much time left for your mother and sisters to come back. Your mother didn't like how you always left the chores as the last thing to do, but in your mind you could get the best out of your free time when you were by yourself in the house, and you always ended up doing the chores in the same day anyway so it's not like she could accuse you of being lazy
As you cleaned your room and then around the house as your mom instructed you sighed, reminding the good old days when your father was alive and you felt more like part of the family. It's not that they hated you or that they isolated you in purpose, but your mother clearly preferred the girls and now every single thing she planned seemed to involve girly stuff you hated, it was like there wasn't any common ground anymore. You didn't really mind doing chores, even if you knew you were doing more chores than your sisters because you were "never busy", what you wanted was to feel like part of the family again. You thought once you finished school and got a job you could move out and see if the abscence made the heart grow fonder or if you should just move on
As you were halfway through cleaning the bathroom you heard the noises outside, your mom and sisters were coming back after another girls only plan. They came in and quickly said hi to you as they carried their shopping bags to the respective rooms, and for some reason you felt a curious sensation in your stomach.
Unaware to you the ring also shined for a couple of seconds, but once the sensation passed you just decided to get a glass of water and finish up the work
